The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a bit of a mess right now and Darrelle Revis is reportedly not thrilled with his new team.
“He’s not happy,” according to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports. “[Greg] Schiano’s rules are a little too strict for him after coming from Rex Ryan.”
Revis is also unhappy that Tampa Bay is not playing enough man coverage, which he would prefer.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comThis is so utterly predictable. And don’t think the fact that the man reporting this happens has years of New York beat experience is lost on us.
Our friends in Westchester are at it again …
Revis is a fantastic player, but now that we have a tiny bit of perspective, I think it is fair to say that Ryan was as good for Revis as Revis was for Ryan. If a defensive coordinator isn’t willing to use one of the best defensive weapons the NFL has, then that’s on that particular coaching staff, to be sure. The PewterPlank wrote a pretty good article on the matter yesterday about Schiano’s staff and their inability to work with what they have.
That said, more than anything Revis prioritized being among the top earners in the NFL … that was his priority.
So now that he is getting what he wanted and prioritized during his whole time in New York — a $16 million annual salary — Revis predictably wants his cake and to eat it too.
Was the extra $3.5 million a year worth it, Darrelle?
Guess we’ll find by the end of the season.
