WR Eric Decker said on Twitter that he would miss Wednesday’s practice to be a presenter with his wife, Jessie James Decker, at the 2014 CMT Music Awards in Nashville.
“Well, speaking as a married guy, I absolutely recommend it that you would go to that, OK,” coach Rex Ryan said with a smile early Wednesday (ESPN, June 4).
Decker signed a five-year, $36.25 million contract with the Jets earlier this year.
“This is really voluntary camp, there’s no doubt about it,” Ryan added. “Things like this pop up, this is the time to do it, it’s not like it happened during the season.”
Watch June 4th on CMT at 8PM ET.

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comI’m with Rex in that there’s no reason that Decker couldn’t miss out on a day of voluntary practice to support his wife’s career. Decker has done a good job in working with the team and preparing for the season already and one day won’t make or break his season.
