Draft Profile: CB Justin Gilbert

Fox Sports profiles Oklahomah State cornerback Justin Gilbert. Gilbert is projected to be a first round draft pick.

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.com

Gilbert is the most athletic cornerback on the draft board.  Tall, rangy, fluid movement and the speed to break on the ball.  For all that said, he isn’t the most technically proficient player on the draft board either.  While Gilbert might take a little time to hone his game for the NFL, his athleticism gives him by far the most upside.

Odell beckham it's our guy best receiver available next to Watkins that is the steal of the draft whoever get this kid have talent all across the board for the next 6 to 10 yrs draft beckham! Get your cb in the 2nd round and your tight end in the third I'm not with picking no tight en in the first round don't care who you is. We need a receiver to finish that offense up and give that side of the ball a real good look then give Rex a lul more on defense in the second round and go back to offense in the third round with your right end

This is the pick guys. We shouldn't get caught up in the deception that corner was our first pick last year, so it shouldn't be this year. Our approach to free agency has almost forced this to be the first pick. After the first round or two, the corner talent seems to drop off, unlike the WR position. Who wouldn't be happy with Robinson or Benjamin in the second round? There seems to be a lot of P. Peterson in Gilbert's game. Unless Evans somehow falls to us, I believe Gilbert would give us the best opportunity to win games against teams with elite QB's.

I'm in belief you trade up in the 1st round, not trade back. You get your probowlers early 1st and you sign role players from free agentsy. If I can move up the 18th pick and draft a guy like Watkins who can be the next Larry Fitzgerald.. Is do it.

Have to love that the first highlight on this reel features an interception that would have been nullified by a penalty in the NFL.

Jets would do Gilbert a lot of good because these defensive coaches on the Jets hands down are really good some of the best in the league.

Jets coaches can take a guy like Gilbert and have him playing great in no time.

Dennard /Gilbert or Fuller I like all three of them. each one of these guys bring something good to the table..

He's gonna be good, but like pretty much all of the CBs coming out, he's gonna need a year, after that year I see several post 1st round  picks being just as good . HE'S athletic.... as are most corners. I guess his return skills are a plus but you get that with other players too.

I think Verrett is the most NFL ready CB.

@bob

 Fuller is getting a lot of love by some analysts, some people have him ahead of Gilbert.

Should be really interesting how this draft will fall. and who's there at 18.

@bob @MarvelI dont know about CB at 18. The offense is really coming along and IMO you have to take a WR at 18.  Drafting a WR really puts pressure on a guy like Hill to step up and if he doesnt he obviously will be phased out and eventually off this team.

It will be interesting to see who is on Idziks board and who falls, because every year someone slips

@Marvel @marcus81

so take beckham at 18 and trade up to the top of the second round for Verrett!
