Draft Profile: CB Kyle Fuller

Fox Sports profiles potential first round pick, Virginia Tech cornerback Kyle Fuller.

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.com

Fuller seems to be moving quickly up draft boards from the second round and might well be a first round pick.  Fuller has a high number of visits set up with many teams across the league

A lot of people have hopped on the Kyle Fuller bandwagon. This is a bit disconcerting, although I believe he can be a good player I don't think he's the right pick at 18. If he's there in the second round I'd be totally  cool with pulling the trigger. My main concern is his lack of recovery speed. This could be a reason why he rarely if ever played press man in college. If we do draft him we'll need to upgrade our safeties. Nobody on this team right now could compensate for Fuller's lack of recovery speed when he gets beat at the line of scrimmage and the QB throws the ball over the top. Don't fill yourself up on Fuller in the first...

Anybody else really like Loston, safety,  LSU?

hoping Rex had a little convo with him at his pro day.

I CAN'T get a feel for Borrow.

Damn Dennard is on NFL live right now. It going to be tough to draft a guy who chose to wear those pants on National TV.

I think it's becoming clear that the Jets will have to move up to get one of the top CB's.

Another OT (and off football)...Pineda and the Yanks staff have to be the biggest idiots.

OT...Cimini already posted his predictions (pre-draft and final rosters)...yup, 8-8 with the Jets losing the last game (no locker room celebrations).  Awesomely douchey.

I get the feeling that a lot of people think KC will be just as good as last year, but I don't understand that.  They lost almost their entire offensive line, which was so important to that offense.  They also lost their starting DE.  Plus they didn't really sign anyone to fill their holes.  They still have the draft, but I don't know.  Their defense is solid as can be, so I'd put them on par with the Jets right now.  Alex Smith was efficient last year, but unspectacular.  I just don't get it.

I honestly think our board is set and a number of these visits are just smokescreens.

The only thing I can't figure out is the OLB target.. Personally I've settled on Jeffcoat with the Tampa pick.

Fuller in the second round...ok cool, if we didn't get Dennard in the first.

Just want Beckham, Cooks, or Ebron round one...

Dennard at 18 and Amaro (slight trade up maybe) in round two works for me, if we have to go CB first pick...

Carr >Bridgewater

But wouldn't draft a QB early... at all

Boyd in the 6th...simple

@a57se  Look out for the Steiny masterlist coming to a website near you next week.

@Wilkershakes   If you just assume Geno/Vick 2014 improves to average So instead of 12td-21int, the QB goes 18-18, that should be good for 2 wins. That does not take into account improvements with weapons. Also assumes the D stays the same as last year.

@Wilkershakes Too early to tell Wilkshakes, Cimini has to write something or he doesn't pay the rent.

Don't sweat it.

@Wilkershakes  They have a very small chance of replicating their ridiculous turnover margin.

@Marvel  I tend to agree with this. Some of them are definitely so the team can get a closer look at a guy, but I would be willing to bet a solid portion are just smokescreens.

Don't think Fuller is there for us at 49...will have to move up to get him; and it'll take more than a 4th rounder to do it.

Get that stud edge rusher in the second round instead and then take the CB...Baptiste, McGill, Gaines, Exum, Reynolds, Roberson, etc. in the 3rd-4th and have the best of both worlds.

@Marvel

You won't be able to get Boyd in the 6th. He'll be long gone.

@a57se @Bent  If only the old complaints were true that we only wrote certain articles because we got paid based on how many comments there were.

Smallwood or Skov might be better options, and could be available in the 4th round.

@WW85 @Wilkershakes   Agreed.  Tough opening slate of games though.  We'll learn quickly if Geno's the guy (if he's the starter).

@Brendan @Wilkershakes    That's why I don't understand how analysts just translate 2013 Chiefs to 2014 Chiefs as being that good.  I actually think they finish with a losing record.

@Hazard2012 @kniff  I don't get my tight end early but I can absolutely live with this. I like it...make it so.

I think mid-late round is about as much attention as ILB is going to get from the Jets in this draft...too many other, more pressing needs.

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se DeMario played LB in a 4-2-5 for the most part. He basically already played 3-4 ILB, he was just given a ton of freedom to roam around and was so fast they used him to cover the slot and stuff. But his base position was more or less what he does now.

Hazard2012

True...Skov isn't winning many races...but ILB isn't a strength in this draft.   There's Mosley and then a big drop off.

@a57se @Tequila Joe @Marvel  two...Dennard and Gilbert. I wasn't high on Dennard because of the injuries early in his career but the more I watch this kid the more I like him. I didn't want the Jets to draft him but I'm slowly changing my mind. I am not committed to be consistent. I am committed to the truth and the truth is I would draft him if he's there at 18.

Brendan

@High$ocietyJet  I a) don't act like they didn't and b) didn't use the age-old favorite "world series" argument.

@a57se Definitely not with the help of steroids. That's for sure.

@a57se @Bent  Nope, he will tell you a bunch of guys you haven't heard anywhere and how/where the Jets interacted with them.

@Wilkershakes Charles is just a matter of health. I've had him on a keeper league for years, so I've kept very close tabs on him. When he's healthy, he's staggeringly good. He just has a hard time staying healthy.

Wilkershakes
Wilkershakes

@Brendan @Wilkershakes   Exactly...not a team that's substantially better than this Jets team.  The likelihood of Charles replicating his year is not that great.  I also forgot they lost McCluster.  Pretty important piece for them.

*obvious disclaimer:  no draft and fa finished*

Brendan
Brendan

@Wilkershakes Their defense is still nasty, and they have Charles.

I'd put them in a group that includes the Jets, probably.
