Not crazy about him. Who I wouldn't mind in the second round is Kyle Van Noy. Dude is a beast on tape and had good measurables. Would of been a top 20 pick last year if he opted for the NFL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2tL4xUZP_8 Hazard2012 5pts Can't help but fantasize about Attaochu coming to the Jets. I really like this guy, his moves, motor, great attitude, everything. Imagine him learning under Rex, being mentored by Pace, and bookended with Coples...or...on certain downs...on the same side! This is how you compensate for any questions/uncertainties you may have about the evolving secondary. Add Attaochu to the mix and you really do let the monsters out of their boxes. Trouble is you may need to get him early, probably second round. Too much buzz about this guy...he's not making it to our third pick. Wilkershakes 5pts What are some recommended site for pre-draft scouting reports? Marvel 5pts our first round pick will be decided after the Cooks /obj visits, I'm sure of it.Honestly if it's even on talent, I think Cooks wins post visits. Just a gut feeling. Hazard2012 5pts @dabronx I think Attaochu's in same class as Van Noy, and possibly a better fit for Rex. He's like Ansah in the sense he's relatively new to the game...so what you see is just the tip of the iceberg. I'd be delighted with either of those guys, frankly. If we can't snag them then I think Demarcus Lawrence, DE out of Boise St. can be had in the third round, and would also be a potential force of nature at OLB down the line. Bent moderator 5pts @Wilkershakes TJB. WW85 5pts @Marvel Honestly, I think Idzik will go Cb @ 18, unless they get blown away by the visit or if all the CBs are gone. Just looking at Seattle drafts. Doesnt seem that WR is high there. Hope I'm wrong Pat d 5pts I like Cooks but Lee is the better WR juunit 5pts @a57se Doubtful. He doesn't seem to fit the mantra of high character guys. Pat d 5pts 57I have to agree Marvel 5pts @a57se wtf. How long have you thought about this? dabronx 5pts @Hazard2012 @dabronx I would be ecstatic if we picked up Van Noy but I think your right - I don't think he is the best scheme fit. dabronx 5pts @a57se @dabronx Agree.. but it also meant that teams didn't run to his side as often and double/triple teamed him. Hazard2012 5pts @a57se @Hazard2012 Which is the main reason I'm a fan of moving down, maybe more than once, to the four or five teams right behind us, if they're willing to part with a 2nd or 3rd round pick. The way I see it that's the only way we can grab that extra top player of two while still getting our top targets. Pat d 5pts If Dennard or Gilbert is there at 18 a CB would be okay. More likely the Jets go safety if Pryor is there at 18. WW85 5pts @Pat d What's up with Lee's 40 time: 4.52 & his refusal to run it again on his pro day? Is his knee not 100% yet? I wonder if they will clock him again on his visit days bobbyj 5pts Why do people want a receiver in the 1st rd when so many people say it's a deep WR draft, combined w/the fact that we have so many needs? I've only glanced at a few, but they are showing a ton of Olineman in the first rd. if a real good one slips, wouldn't we be better served there gbrownn 5pts I like Cooks and Lee(in the 2nd round) but ODB is the better WR Marvel 5pts @Pat d that we draft Hill in the second round? Hazard2012 5pts @a57se @Hazard2012 Just using those two examples. It could be anyone between Miami and say Carolina at 28. I'm sure they'll be lots of trades in this draft...question is by whom for what. I'd just be receptive to any offers that came our way. Hazard2012 5pts @a57se @Hazard2012 They might if they thought we or another team in front of them might take the top player on their board! I think it depends on how the board shakes out, but I'm just saying I'd move down under the right circumstances to increase the number of picks I have in the first 2-3 rounds. Hazard2012 5pts @a57se @Hazard2012 Very true...takes two to tango...but I think (and hope) that the right players will fall to entice Mia, Ariz, GB, KC, Cinn and SD to part with one of those precious picks so they can land the top player on their board. Not impossible, and in fact may be more than possible, even likely, that at least one of these teams would be willing to make a move. Two things, though. We have to get 2nd or at least 3rd rounders to move, and we also have to be almost guaranteed a player we covet will still be on the board after the trade down. Pat d 5pts Benjamin is not a good fit for the Jets. Bent moderator 5pts @gbrownn I meant nitpicking flaws in his game. I just wonder if teams know more than the so-called experts about how to assess a guy's potential. bklyndude 5pts @gbrownn I agree he is an interesting prospect and may turn out to be a good player in the NFL, but why take a chance on this type of guy who supposedly blew off a workout and needs to get into better shape. gbrownn 5pts @Bent "Picking holes" as in against zone coverage? Or "picking holes" in Benjamins game? Are you saying there some smokescreens going around about his level of interest in league circles? I think somebody has it in their mind to trade back into the 1st if Benjamin is still there. Theres got to be one team willing to take this freak in the first gbrownn 5pts Alshon Jeffrey was told that. But i dont see the point your trying to make. It actaully does happen often. Teams say "We like you as a prospect but we think if you lost or gained x amount of pounds we like you at this position" bklyndude 5pts @gbrownn When you are about to get drafted into the NFL, you shouldn't have to be told you need to lose weight and get into better shape. Bent moderator 5pts @gbrownn I heard teams saying good things about him and "experts" picking holes. Hmmm... gbrownn 5pts I want him. I think he's a lot more polished then people give him credit for. He's never going to get separation like a Brandin Cooks or ODB, but he doesn't need to, his size alone pretty much means he "always open". Such a mismatch. The Stephen Hill miss has scared alot of us on taking Big "project" Wrs. Even though I don't think Benjamin is half the project Hill is. Bent moderator 5pts @a57se @Bent Except Kelvin Benjamin! Nobody wants him. I feel a little sorry for him. Bent moderator 5pts @a57se @Bent @Wilkershakes Exactly! I tend to find TJB gives me reports on all the guys we think the Jets like and that they give a good representation of everyone's views on the subject. That's what I want!I may be somewhat biased. Pat d 5pts Like I have said before the knee is the concern not the 40 time. psi1 5pts I like Moncrief in R2 if they go defense or TE in R1. Pat d 5pts Hazard There is no way Robinson is better than Lee. Robinson has average speed and isn't a very good route runner. Lee has explosive speed and is the best route runner in this draft. On top of that Lee is a better fit. Hazard2012 5pts @a57se @Hazard2012 I think it's more a case of him getting more physical and using his size more effectively, and less a case of suspect hands. But I'd take a chance on this guy in a second. Hazard2012 5pts @a57se @Hazard2012 @bobbyj Robinson might be a tweener. I actually like him more than Lee, but then I'm not exactly a Lee proponent, period. Moncrief is the guy I think will be the absolute steal in the entire WR class...fluid, good routes, strong, great hands, 6'3" and runs a 4.40 with something like a 40" vert. Hazard2012 5pts @bobbyj It might be more a case of wanting a particular WR, from the top tier of them, rather than 'settle' for second or third tier talent. In all likelihood, Watkins, Evans, Cooks, Beckham and Lee all go off the board by end of the first round, and although there's still talent in the tier right behind them, it may not be as dynamic or proven as the top five guys. That's what's driving the 'get a WR first' sentiment. But one can say similar things about almost all positions. So if you really want one of these guys you're probably going to have to do it by round three...and possibly two. That's true for OL, too. psi1 5pts Since none of us knows for sure, I'm saying the Jets will likely pick one of Cooks, OBJ or Denard in R1. psi1 5pts Keep Lee; I'm asking for Cooks then OBJ. Pat d 5pts I like all 3 WRs at 18. But Lee is the best fit for the Jets. Brendan 5pts @Marvel Explain yourself immediately. Marvel 5pts @a57se @juunit West?? hell no Pat d 5pts 3rd Bent moderator 5pts @a57se @Bent I don't mind you asking, but I'm keeping that under wraps. Bent moderator 5pts @a57se @Bent We do get some baseball here, on cable. I don't pay for MLB.tv but they have a free game every day, which is often the Mets too.I do have audio league pass or whatever it's called, so I actually listen to most of the Mets games on the radio while I work. Bent moderator 5pts @a57se @Bent Watching the Mets! Bent moderator 5pts @a57se @Bent Not a crime, is it? Ron Alexander 5pts @a57se @Brendan @Marvel What a joke that whole thing was keeping 10 O-linemen.At least two of them Oboushi & Campbell should have been on the practice squad as if they were so bad they couldn't be activated in spite of Winters dismal performance I'm thinking they must be pretty bad?As I haven't rad anything anywhere saying anything to the contrary i think its assumption that that is in fact the case. Bent moderator 5pts @a57se @bobbyj I think he's referring to why Gee's start was cut short. bobbyj 5pts He got hit by a ball Brendan 5pts @a57se Before you focus on the typo: I obviously meant Ware in the 6th for Seattle, not Michael. Brendan 5pts @bobbyj If by "that blog" you mean Metsblog.com, that's your own fault. That place is awful. Brendan 5pts @a57se Nope, not letting you out of this one. I asked you why you want to throw RB's at the wall until one sticks with Ivory/CJ. You said depth. Fine. I said I think it's unnecessary with so many good NFL-caliber RB's available. You replied by saying "well, look at what these good teams did!" without any context. Like drafting Eddie Lacy in the 2nd round to be a feature back and drafting Christine Michael in the 6th to be on the PS the entire season are one and the same. You didn't answer my question, hence me continuing to ask about it. What did your list of RB's drafted by good teams imply? That only good teams draft RB's? That to be a good team you need to draft RB's? What was the purpose of that list? bobbyj 5pts First off I'm a huge Met fan & that's all I read on that blog, secondly Powell has made huge steps since being drafted, who really thought he was gonna stick on our roster? I didn't. Here's the problem, it's impossible to say w/any degree of accuracy how much more Powell could grow. If he sustains the same growth rate as he has had, he could be very good. Don't be in such a rush to predict the future juunit 5pts @bobbyj Well, except Gee can only pitch through the order two times. So really he should be in the pen. I mean he got pulled yesterday while pitching a shutout after only throwing 70 something pitches. Brendan 5pts @bobbyj As a Mets fan, can you please stop using Mets fans as if they're some collective of irrational fans? People don't want Powell because, unlike Gee who is quite good, Powell doesn't have any above-average abilities, just a bunch of average-to-below-average ones. bobbyj 5pts Why cut Powell? You guys are nuts, it's like listening to Met fans talking about trading Dillion Gee, because he doesn't throw 98mph, so what, fact is Gee is a winner who is continuing to grow. In Powell I see a underrated back who is progressing nicely, so let's sit him for a RB who by all accounts is heading in the wrong direction... Bent moderator 5pts @Brendan @a57se Griffin is not currently on the roster so they won't need to cut him:http://thejetsblog.com/nyjets/roster-update-exclusive-rights-free-agents-2/ Brendan 5pts @a57se You listed a varying range of RB draft selections to prove your point about what "sustainable teams' do and I would like you to explain what point you're making since the Jets do a similar thing themselves (Griffin was a FA who had never played in a game, so basically a rookie anyway, but yes I misspoke if that's the victory you're looking for). Brendan 5pts @a57se The Jets drafted Powell. Or Griffin. Or Gannaway. What is your point, exactly? Brendan 5pts @a57se Where we differ is you think a stopgap's replacement must be in-hand while the stopgap is on the team. I don't think that's necessary, especially at a position like RB. That is not a position where you need to hoard talent since there is a saturation of the market for NFL-capable RB's. Brendan 5pts @Marvel Yesterday people thought 4 RB's were a stretch, now we're talking about keeping 5? Ron Alexander 5pts @a57se @Marvel Agree 100% about Bohannon Ron Alexander 5pts @a57se @Marvel I don't know why you keep referencing Goodson because I just cant see him on the jets this season. Even if he avoids the gray-bar hotel i just don't think there's room at the inn for him unless we dump Powell? Pat d 5pts 57 never said anything about carrying 6 RBs Marvel 5pts @a57se you're scaring me...you wanna carry 6 RBs? one of which will cost a 2nd round pick?
