To any one who does not like the Mc Dougle pick you really need to look at the tape on him.  He gets his head turned around and attacks the ball.  The reason his value fell was because he got hurt.

Let's see, Conor Shaw outplayed Boyd in all 4 years with SC beating Clemson 5 straight years. So we draft a guy who can't read defenses and can't win big games because Rex's son is a walk on? But we can't draft the Wr Bryant from Clemson.

This is what is screwed up with this team. Their evaluation of talent sucks!

For guys who didn't like the Pryor pick remember those teams quick passing on us to avoid the pass rush they can't do it over the middle anymore same thing goes for mcdougle didn't like the pick at first then I thought about all the pick Kyle Wilson would have had if he turned his head around with mcdougle those are picks and maybe pick 6s

So Decker. Kerley. Nelson......Saunders Evans. Does Hill beat out Enunwa? Enunwa on PS?

When you read the NFL draft profiles of every one of our picks the words that keep appearing: aggressive, attitude, likes contact. Anyone else notice this?

I'm not very impressed, I only see 2 starters maybe, Jace Amaro, you have to plug in right away no choice and hopefully Calvin Pryor, but that's a maybe, because they may have him sit his rookie year.  The rest of the guys are projects who may or may not make the team, people who will compete for jobs if not cut, I would have rathered trading those latter picks for quality guys earlier, guys who would definately make the team.

@theeditor

Rex probably got intel on Bryant from his son as well......

WR from Clemson, we passed on a lot better WRs than that

@Cordell C  Only reluctance I have towards the Prior pick is that the strength of his game makes him prone to getting flagged.  Having a hard hitting safety is almost a liability these days.

@WW85

Doubt he goes to the PS. Some other team would snap him up.

I think there's a good chance we carry an abnormal number of WRs like we did with OL last year.

Nelson will get cut before hill does

@WW85  For sure. This is the common thread Idzik's referring to. Iron sharpers iron, and by bringing in 12 guys who are all aggressive, enthusiastic, and have natural leadership qualities the Jets are only increasing the chances that a few of them will emerge as real factors on game day. Love the approach.

That being said, I am most intrigued by McDougle. It's the pick that had us all scratching our heads, and you can totally make a case to say they took him too high. I kind of feel like if they hit on McDougle then this will be indicative of how the rest of this draft turns out.

I agree. This draft was anticipated with very high hopes and Idzik deflated most Jets fans by not getting an elite WR in draft.

I am so happy I didn't fall for Woody's PSL fraud and will be giving up my season tickets.

No way Pryor sits. He will be a stud

One thing I can guarantee is that Pryor will be on the field enforcing the middle. My only fear is when they use him in priority coverage.

I also think they should've gotten Mettenberger as a project QB.

@Pat d  Conor Shaw (who went undrafted) is a weird player to criticize the Jets for not drafting too.

@juunit @WW85  Might be in the same boat with CBs.  One extra of each?

@Cordell C  Why?  idzik brought nelson in and nelson got better toward the end of the season.

Idzik has no loyalty towards hill and hill's been and is bad.  why would idzik keep him.

I agree and know that competition in training camp will resign the players to their fates and idzik won't make a move until he gets the coaches' assessments but nelson right now > hill.

idzik's job is to turn the roster over with talented players, control the cap, and close the circus.

I don't think hill being a #2 pick @a position of need has anything to do with it.  perform or you're out and hill hasn't performed.

He'd better turn in a good camp imo.

I think Hill will have to jump a level to stay on the team.

@D'Apostraphe Lewis @WW85 all I have to say is look at the tape on Mc Dougle he is an easy 2nd or 3rd round pick.   His lost value because he was hurt, he gets  his head turned around and attacks the ball.. In a year or 2 this pick will look like a steal

Brendan
Brendan

@Pat d  I could see them easing him into a full-time role as part of a 3-safety rotation or something.

He might not start immediately, but he's obviously the long term starter there.

tsjc68
tsjc68

Pryor, Amaro, McDougle, and Dozier will all be starters, and one of Enunwa/Evans likely will as well. And Saunders will start at KR/PR and play a ton of sub-packages.

The other guys are all quality rotational guys, minimum, with tons of upside.

"Just two starters" is false.

tsjc68
tsjc68

Zach Mettenberger blows chunks.

Cordell C
Cordell C

Nelson is at his prime he he's nothing special hill can be a true difference maker Nelson had solid games for us last year but he's a dime a dozen receiver that's why I say he gets cut before hill

Gotta see who the QB is gonna be, Geno or Vick. Mike Westoff said that Geno was in for a "WAR" to retain the starting QB position. Does anyone believe now, after this draft, anything Idzik has to say? Tell me that anyone believes that the Jets drafted BPA...I think Hill could fulfill his promise w/Vick at QB. Geno is not a North South thrower, he is a spot thrower

D'Apostraphe Lewis

@Pat d  I really think the "Hill can't catch" angle is overplayed at this point. We all remember the horrific drop against New England back in 2012 that, in a way, turned our season, but the more accurate knock on him at this point I think is that he doesn't attack the ball and use his body to his advantage.

Either way, he is definitely on the bubble and I'm really pulling for him. I get a sense that he's an extremely hard worker and a good guy/teammate, but as we all know, has yet to put it all together.

And yes, the injuries have absolutely hindered his development.

jma020
jma020

@tsjc68  True, just saying that him not being Idzik's draft pick could very well work against him.  SImilar to what happened to Vlad.

Pat d

The biggest problem for Hill is that he has boxing gloves for hands

tsjc68
tsjc68

The biggest problem for Hill is that he can't stay healthy.

jma020

@tsjc68  The biggest problem for hill may be that he wasn't Idzik's pick.... sort of like Ducasse.

jma020

@Cordell C  I'm just thining of Hill as an additional draft pick at this point.  Lets see.

tsjc68
tsjc68

Not yet, but making this roster will not be a cakewalk.

Cordell C
Cordell C

U can't give up on a 22 yr old who runs a 4.3 when they drafted him they knew he was raw I hope he stays healthy if so be will surprise people this year

WW85
WW85

I want Hill to make the team but I'm 50-50 he does. He has to earn it now and not based on potential

Cordell C
Cordell C

Plus he has more potential then anyone else if he gets it together could be an elite receiver

Cordell C
Cordell C

Dude has been hurt he had a great camp last year and played well early in the season until he got hurt he's 22 and it wouldn't make financial sense to cut him...he's not going anywhere until at least next year plus I expect him to have a breakout year

WW85

Tsj do u agree Hill is toast?

Quincy Enunwa will make Stephen Hill cry.

@brendan @Pat d hes a fs not ss we drafted him for a reason yes hes a big time hitter but hes gonna be covering big tes, being a center fielder, hes gonna do alittle bit of everything our only issue defensively was getting burnt deep we need him out there

I'm with you,  I like the way this kid plays.

Just making fun of the so called mock experts who create boards and then give bad grades to the experts.  The professionals spend countless hours interviewing players and coaches before making an evaluation.

theeditor

You are drinking Idzik's cool aid if you think they got 4 or more starters out of this draft. Idzik was afraid to trade up in rounds 2 or 3 to get better players. And it will cost the Jets. This draft makes Idzik look really stupid by not signing Revis and Jackson.

tsjc68
tsjc68

Even if you're not bullish on Dex, Dakota Dozier is a beast and will most definitely be a starter for the Jets, either after Winters fails or Colon leaves.

tsjc68
tsjc68

Technically, I did too, as I had him way down in R6. Both Rex Ryan and Bob Sutton disagree, though, and their words should carry much more weight than any mock drafter, myself included.

Brendan
Brendan

@Pat d  Don't overlook the improvement these bodies will bring to STs, which was an overlooked area of concern for the team. A lot of these non-starter picks are going to boost that unit, big time.

Pat d
Pat d

I see 2 starters as well. McDougle is a question mark. The Jets could have moved up and get another starter. With 12 picks they should have gotten 4 starters.

bklyndude

@tsjc68

But the mock experts said McDougle was overdrafted............

tsjc68
tsjc68

Very. He won't start from Day 1, but he will eventually be DMZ's running mate.

Dex will start? How confident are you in that?

@tsjc68

Ha...If Mettenberger were any good, Beckham would of had a lot better numbers.
