Focusing on the Coaching Search

As was written about a few days ago there’s been a host of coaches (nine at last count) who have parted ways in some capacity with the Jets. The Jets have made it clear that they would hire their GM first before announcing a rash of coaching moves. Pettine looks like he’s doing all he can to take as many guys with him as possible … guys like Anthony Weaver and Jim O’Neill. So if the Jets are close, what are some of the other moves they are about to make?
Offensive Coordinator — Sounds like Pep Hamilton is the favorite for this post for the Jets. Look to see his name as the Jets top choice.
Defensive Coordinator — It’s a forgone conclusion that Dennis Thurman will be bumped up from his secondary post to the defensive coordinator spot.
Special Teams Coordinator — It’s no secret that Westhoff’s assistant Ben Kotwica will be bumped up with the absence of Mike Westhoff.
Quarterbacks Coach — There’s not much solid intel here, but there was a rumor that the Jets were interested in the former QB Coach for the Bills and Dolphins, David Lee. Lee of course was the man who brought the Wildcat to Miami from Arkansas.
Other Key Spots — The Jets linebackers coaching spot is bare and the Jets will need to address the spot as best they can. With some big changes likely at that spot coming this offseason, the Jets should do their best to hire as good a group of coaches as they can.
