Free Agency Watch: OLB Non-Updates

Just a quick not that according to the Miami Herald’s website on Saturday, OLB Antwan Barnes has had some initial discussions with Miami about joining the Dolphins,  but that they “haven’t advanced” much beyond that.

While Barnes and the Jets seemed keen on getting a deal done, Rotoworld reported that the Jets were not willing to offer Barnes more than $2 million per season to play in New York.  Barnes will see if the market will offer him more, but it’s probably reasonable that the Jets offer will remain open for at least a little while.

Meanwhile, the idea of bringing in Victor Butler still seems to be in the ether.  What ever happened with that one?  After leaving Pittsburgh last week and whispers of interest from the Saints, Butler has yet to sign anywhere … so were Butler and the Jets actually interested in each other?  No one seems to know much about Butler’s status, but he would be a nice addition to the Jets if the front office could find the right ways to convince him to play in New York and do so at the right price.
