Need to Know: Geno Smith was officially named the Week 1 starting QB by Rex Ryan after a solid first-half performance. He was 9 of 14 for 137 yards with 1 TD as the Jets took a 10-7 halftime lead. He also ran three times for 17 yards. . .Mike Vick had a short, eventful night on the Jets’ first two second-half series. He fumbled on the first to set up a Giants touchdown; on the second he led an 11-play, 76-yard touchdown drive, finishing with a 3-yard TD pass to Eric Decker. He was 4-for-5 for 35 yards with 1 TD. Third-stringer Matt Simms was 9-for-14 for 106 yards and a touchdown. . . The Jets kept most of their starters in to start the second half; the Giants did not. . .Cornerback Antonio Allen sustained a concussion and left the game. Allen left after a helmet-to-helmet collision with Jets linebacker Demario Davis while making a tackle. Backup linebacker Troy Davis also left with a leg injury. . .The Jets had 393 yards of total offense. . . The seven TDs were most scored by Jets, Giants combined in their 46 preseason games dating to 1969.
