Gamethread: Giants vs. Jets, 7:30 p.m.

Game: The Giants and Jets square off for bragging rights in the “Snoopy Bowl” on Friday night.

Time: 7:30 p.m. on CBS

Injuries: Jalen Saunders will not play following his “medical incident” a week ago.

What to Watch: Calvin Pryor and Darrin Walls will start, Rex Ryan said on Thursday.

Check the penalties, as Rex Ryan said the team wants to remain physical, but shouldn’t take 12 penalties like they did against the Bengals.

Stephen Hill and the rest of the receiving corp battling for a spot should be something to keep an eye on.

Geno looked good, definately see the improvement, Gates showed some good things, Hill showed some good movement in and out of routes, Secondary didn't embarrased themselves this time, D line wasn't playing around this time, Pretty good all around, Even Matt Simms showed improvement, at this stage I would Just keep Simms and let Boyd go if the Jets are only keeping 3.

Take away: Geno is the starter, pass and run o look great, run D is good, need to trade for a cb

I wish Westy was still here so he could cut Dixon "right on the effin field"

Dixon probably not worth a spot on the PS

Brandon Dixon has been getting abused out there.

losing this game is not bad unless you live in NY and root for the Jets

@Pablo Bruno First team played well and I'm happy with the performance but these late drives by the opposition have to be put to an end. Rex's defense has always been good but they have a penchant for not being able to close games. The end of the first half is good example of that...

Gates and Salas aren't making the decisions re WR's easy.   They're doing just enough to keep themselves in the conversation.  Ditto Hill, though one would expect to see a lot more from #84 than that by now.

@Tequila Joe

why? Vick fumbled and that lead to a score.

Unless you mean the Gmen..then yup.

For the Giants, yes.  Nassib seems so much more comfortable with the WCO than Eli.

Yes, I want more Vick or even Simms.

If I am Giants I want Nassib!!

@Kyle Ely

the D was amazing until AA got hurt, and then 1 drive. Wish they played a whole game. I doubt the gmen would of done much else.

so much pressure on eli tonight. Coples beasted. Walls looked good. so did Pryor and Amaro. Decker should of had 2 tds. and Geno and the run game looked great.

Trade for CB for what?  One game once Milliner is back where would this 3rd or 4th CB you are trading for play?

Pablo Bruno

@Tequila Joe @Pablo Bruno A Allen was out when the Gmen had that scoring drive. Wouldn't have happened with a healthy Milliner and Allen out there with Pryor at safety.

@hazard2012 @Pablo Bruno I'd keep hill over Gates, Gates' hands are just as suspect as Hill's. Salas is a keeper for me, for sure!

@drjreefer Yes, the Gmen...it's about time they start getting asked inflammatory questions by the media.

@harold @Tequila Joe Ha! I meant for the Giants. I hope Nassib's performance creates a "circus" type environment for the Giants.

Really? Who cares what nassib and some rand-o do against dixon?

Tequila Joe

@Pablo Bruno @Tequila Joe Really? So, you've never seen this before? One example, and there are many to choose from; the AFC championship against the Colts. This defense has an issue with closing games, they need to work on that, period. Otherwise the First team played great. I wish they won though, I don't care if it's preseason.

I was hoping one of them would separate themselves from the pack, but that hasn't happened.   I think that Decker, Kerley and Nelson are on this team, but beyond that I honestly have no idea who makes final cut.

Who is trading a #2 CB two weeks before the regular season?  This is a dream land scenario.

Pablo Bruno
Pablo Bruno

@Tequila Joe Yes I've seen this happen before, it's not a issue of closing games, it's an issue of being burdened time and again of bailing out the team, the offense turning the ball over and going 3 and out will wear out any defense. Hopefully the offense can control time of possession better this year.

@harold @hazard2012 @Pablo Bruno I bet someone would take Simms faster then they would Boyd, with Simms, the Jets already invested some time on him to develop him this far and you see the improvement and his cannon arm, with Boyd we saw he is a bit raw and I don't see more upside with Boyd over Simms to be honest. I think Simms has more potential.

@harold @Kyle Ely J.Joesph is rumored to wanting to depart from Houston

Cool, I'll be sure to remind them when their team wins 5 games this year, ha.

While the TO's by the O are a problem, so too is the recent history of the D of not getting off the field on 3rd down and of being sliced and diced in the air.   The latter is something only an improved secondary can solve.

He has been rumored all off-season.  Don't see us taking on his huge salary.

With Dee healthy, AA, Calvin Pryor.  I am sure we will be fine.

You seem to be suggesting panic moves.

drjreefer

@Kyle Ely @drjreefer @harold

he was number 1 today and played great. I think you're a bit caught up on what other players did. not the starters.

Kyle Ely

@harold @Kyle Ely First of all AA might have a concussion, second trading a draft pick for Joesph with like 22 mil in cap is not panicking

We don't need him though that is what you are missing.  Trading for him when you really don't need him is silly.

if he has a concussion he is back by week 1...Pryor just had one a month ago and has been flying around for 2 weeks now.

@harold @Kyle Ely You really feel comfortable going up against the packers, lions, bears, broncos, and patriots with AA or Walls as the #2 cb?

harold
harold

@Kyle Ely @harold

They don't even start.  Milliner and Patterson are the starters.  Everyone here is freaking out about Patterson's first preseason game.  When it is obvious he was hurt.  He played well in camp before the little injuries.

But for the record, yes I feel fine with those guys.  We have been good with many average players in the secondary.  If everyone plays team ball we will be fine.

@harold @Kyle Ely

Agree we shouldn't panic, but I'm not nearly as confident about our CB's as you are.   in all honesty there are only questions and concerns at the CB position, and no definite, slam dunk answers.  That includes Dee, and the fall-off from Milliner to whomever the #2 guy is could be scary with the pass-happy schedule we have this year.

harold
harold

@hazard2012 @harold @Kyle Ely

We all have to be honest most of Milliner struggles can be attributed to his limited practice time last year.  Once he practiced consistently he played very well.

Patterson has been a solid pro I think if he is solid for us we will be fine.

@harold @hazard2012 @Kyle Ely

I hope you're right, but both claims/assumptions still have to be proven.   With McDougle on IR, AA now with a head injury of his own, Patterson with a history of injury and Dee compiling a medical history of his own, a little insurance at this position might not be a bad idea considering what's at stake.
