David Nelson celebrates after scoring his first touchdown in a win over the Cleveland Browns last Sunday.

Who: New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins
When: 1:00 p.m. EST
Where: Sun Life Stadium, Miami, FL
Media: TV – CBS, DirecTV – 710, Radio – ESPN N.Y. 98.7 FM, Sirius – 111, Sirius XM – XM 225, Internet AudioAudio Pass.
Their Previous Meeting: The last time these two teams met, was at the tail end of a brutal three game losing streak only a few short weeks ago. Both teams started off quiet without a score in the first quarter. The Jets’ defense held Miami to two field goals in the second but couldn’t muster any points before they headed into halftime. The struggling Geno Smith was supplanted by Matt Simms in the second half but it wouldn’t help; meanwhile the Jets’ defense began to break down and allowed two long touchdowns to Miami’s Brian Hartline and Mike Wallace respectively while Nick Folk added three for the Jets in between. Both teams volleyed back and forth in the fourth before Caleb Sturgis added Miami’s final points of the day with just under six minutes remaining. The Dolphins left MetLife with a 23-3 win in hand.

Westhoff is superb as an analyst on SNY. Great insight into the team's past dynamics.

What did I miss, did Ivory get injured?  How and was it serious , didn't see him once in second half.

My Jets offseason wish list is

1.) Rex 2-3 year extension( shows FA's FO is on the same page)

2.) Holmes release

3.) Brian Orakpo

3.) TJ Ward or Jairus Byrd

4.) Maclin

5. Cro restructures

Is that too much to ask for lol

Jeanne Coakley on SNY just conducted a very good interview with Woody Johnson. Interesting use of the term accountability regrading the scouts. That may have been a sour spot with Tanny's regime. The pro-player acquisitions under Idzik so far has been pretty good (Ivory and Nelson in particular).

After Woody said Rex is back in 2014, Jeanne Coakley asked point blank, if it is more than a one year deal, Woody said he will not discuss contracts.

Idzik on SNY, now.

Jets are likely picking 14-16 in draft.  Contingent upon Chicago/ Green Bay and Philly/ Dallas games and how they finish.

Woody Johnson just said that Rex Ryan will be back.

Rex Ryan managed to win eight games with a team that was ranked LAST in the AP power rankings at the start of the season. It was an extraordinary effort on his part so I fully expect the Jets to fire him.....

Rex bobbleheads are 75% off in the team shop. What does it all mean?!!!

--Keeping Rex = Keeping season ticket holders.

--Firing Rex = Losing some season ticket holders.

Its really not a tough decision for Woody.

He deserves a multi year extension....now that he has a real GM and a real OC, lets see what he can do, because he has been working with one hand tied behind his back for the last 4 seasons...

Just a few of the BS articles from the beginning of the year

/\ my fave   "With the current roster, gutted by new GM John Idzik, Ryan would deserve Coach of the Year votes if he wins eight games. Logic says he's Dead Coach Walking, but Ryan is a half-full optimist. Indeed, this gives him the chance to show the world he can coach with the best of them."

Nice game from our top 3 2013 draft picks (Milliner, Richardson, & Geno).

BILLY

The Jets should have the draft picks and cap flexibility to improve the team by 3-4 wins.

Not to mention the maturation of the rookies at key positions.

Paul Samuels

If only the Jets could have picked up one more win this year. That first Pats game really stings today.

@Omari BrownThe Browns are going to have something like 50 million in cap space, so Ward will be unlikely. (he also wants to return to Cleveland)  Byrd, however, wants out of Buffalo, is a distinct possibility.

Another option is Bernard Pollard.

I like those free agent choices!

jdb7
jdb7

@psi1There are going to be some solid free agents available this offseason.  No real flashy superstar names, but guys that will help the Jets win.

Sorry guys, Jimmy Graham will not be a free agent.  Guys like Brent Celek and James Jones may be though.

I was ready for a change, but Rex earned the right to continue. Good for him.

realjetfan

@Brendan Yes.

Now, all the toolish haters who can't think for themselves will talk about what a bad move it is to bring Rex back. Of course the haters would hate and criticize the Jets retaining Rex--they root AGAINST the Jets weekly anyway and deep inside in their heart of hearts, they know Rex gives the Jets the best chance to win week in and week out.

@bittinho "Never mind telling the media and the team, we must inform the people in charge of team shop inventory of our decision as soon as possible!"

@Antuan Dexter John

Dude, the Saints will never let that happen.  Here is what will happen.  Saints cut Will Smith, save $10 million and at the least franchise Jimmy.

Brendan
Brendan

@jake100 So I can only hope that's exactly what they announce.

@Paul Samuels Yeah, well, it's not like we could have beaten anyone in the playoffs. I'm pretty happy with 8-8.

Omari Brown
Omari Brown

No way Graham leaves N.O I'd take celek or Maclin on an incentive based "show me" deal like Laron Landry

BILLY
BILLY

@Marvel @BILLY True.

But firing Rex after going 8-8 with this offensive talent, and a rookie QB and LG, would infuriate, at least, some of the fan base.
