Bradysucks brought up a good point a couple of days ago and it is this; Woody has a bad history of not keeping his best players.

When hard work and stats speak for themselves and  payday time comes its off to another team you seem to go... his examples were Keyshawn, Abraham, and Revis... I would go as far as to add Austin Howard to this list. I think it's sending a bad message and killing our culture!!

We all want to be recognized and appreciated, ans yes, we all want to get paid. No surprise here...

I know managing money is important, and I know some players have attitudes, and some don't, but the point is when you want to build a winning culture, you have to reward and promote those who excel and meet/exceed expectations. The rookies below look for clues as to how to succeed, be happy, AND get paid, so murmuring, bad past examples, and negativity prevail if a Front Office is too short sighted and not cognizant of the culture they are cultivating. WE need to create a winning culture by rewarding those who fight well on the gridiron for us, and setting in stone the incentive to join us, fight, and always play hard for the New York Jets.

We all know who the solid Jets are, so I will leave that one to your reflection, but please think about what I am saying.

I just want him signed by whomever it will be already. End the speculation and let's focus on the draft. That will make or break us not cjhowevermanyk. If we get him, cool. If not, cool. 12 picks, and we're building not buying sustained success. I hate having the draft in May!!

PFT is using manish as a source... Manish isn't using any sources...

At this point I'd be really surprised if we sign CJ..... I don't think it's gonna happen.

How much is Chris Johnson's contract likely to be. That is my reservation with him. Plus once he got the big contract he played like a big turd.

who would sing up for these 3 first picks?

Round 1. Amaro TE Texas Tech

Round 2. Robinson Wr Penn State

Round 3. Jean-Baptiste CB Nebraska

If chris Ivory is worth a 4th round pick and money then Chris Johnson is worth money..Wether Impotent one can get him is another thing entirely

Having Johnson in the backfield would help me feel less cheated about my PSL fees.

Im not the biggest fan of chris johnson but i seriously doubt idzik would give anything more then a 1 year commitment

@Pat d I could guess  he would sign either a two year deal for around six million a year .. or a one year deal for a little less..he will not sign a one year prove it deal with us because our offense sucks at the moment . So the only way WE are going to get him is by paying a little, Either way the money doesn't hurt us at all .By the time we have to pay Richardson couples and milner CJ wont be here so the "money" is a non issue. Anything below 6 million should be fine for someone of his age caliber and resume.

We might be able to get him cheaper..but he will cost some money. The "money" is irrelevant for a contract such as Johnsons ..The money only really matters if your going past two or three years, or current space is an issue,,We have and will have boatloads of space. its about whether Idzik has any skill what so ever at winning negotiations. This would be the first player in demand he will have signed so lets cross our fingers shall we,

@jake100  Seems like they're just recycling Manish's tweet that sounded like ambiguous speculation.

That's probably what he's waiting on. CJ1K probably wants a multi-year deal a la MJD and Idzik is going to wait and see if he can get him for just one year.

No FA RB has signed for more than 4 million. Hopefully the Jets get him. Behind the Jets o-line he should be a big play threat again.

@greggreen @Monty  so chris ivory is better you are saying..? let me know when he reaches 1000 yards in a season.  CJ had the worst season of his career and hit 1000 yards..CJ is better.. cj would only cost money..CJ is worth the risk.. unless you disagree  and dont want CJ?

Do you have an opinion on it ganggreen? and please dont  say "get CJ if the money is right" haha either you want him or you dont.. please take a position, but I warn you ..It will be harder to defend idziks failure once youve done so

@Bent @Pat d

Well, looks like the Jets have an opportunity to grab one of the top G/T prospects later in the draft now that Brandon Thomas of Clemson tore his ACL.

With all the compensatory picks the Jets can afford to draft and stash him on IR this season

Monty
Monty

@Bent @Pat dwhich is one of the reasons he wont come here for a prove it..well have to pay him

@Pat d hell get the most money a free agent RB has gotten so far.

@Pat d  Unless Winters improves, the Jets offensive line arguably isn't going to make Johnson's life any easier.  Football Outsiders ranked the Titans 19th in adjusted line yards last year, two places above the Jets.  On PFF, the combined run blocking grades had the Jets in 31st and the Titans in 5th.

Ivory made yards in spite of the Jets offensive line last year, not because of it ... although it's pretty evident that Winters was by far the biggest problem and he did seem to end the season on an uptick.
