Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comCongratulations to Geno Smith for his impressive play on a big stage on Monday Night Football. Aside from his stats, it was the last drive which started at the 1:54 minute mark of the fourth quarter which likely put him into consideration for this award. On that drive, every play netted positive yards and moved the team down the field with time to spare for the Nick Folk game-winning kick.
Receiver TY Hilton had a good game for the Colts, but Peyton Manning was probably the best other player (33/42 for 414 yards with 4 TDs 1 INT) in contention for the honor. Manning is coming off September month honors and while Manning’s game was one that will be remembered for a long time, but it was Romo who ended up losing the game for the Cowboys and it might have been Smith’s final drive along with the fact that he only threw four incompletions with no interceptions that tipped the honors into the rookie’s favor.
