GM Watch: Angelo Out of the Running?
According to CBS NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, former Bears general manager Jerry Angelo is unlikely to be brought back for a second interview with the Jets.
Jets doing 2nd interviews Tues. would expect guys like Omar Khan, Russ Ball, Scott Cohen to be in the mix. Sounds like Jerry Angelo is not—

Angelo is one of the few prospective GMs the Jets have interviewed that has previous experience holding the position with another NFL franchise. He accomplished some good things with the Bears, notably a couple of division titles and a Super Bowl berth. But Angelo’s track record isn’t flawless either, and particularly for where the Jets have struggled lately to accumulate talent Angelo seems like an especially poor fit. The Bears did not successfully draft and develop a quarterback under Angelo, and in general Chicago’s drafting track record on offense under Angelo’s leadership was quite poor. If La Canfora’s report is true, the Jets have likely dodged a bullet.
