Heckert Cancels Trip to New York

Hmm … anything is still possible, but late in the day Friday the notion was floated that the Chiefs might bring in both Dorsey and Heckert and they would divvy up the operational responsibilities.  I don’t think that this points to Heckert getting the top job in Kansas City (yet) in light of Albert Breer’s information on the subject.  Even so, Heckert must feel confident enough in the offer that the Chiefs made him and maybe unwilling to give that up to the Jets, who are reported to be very serious about grabbing Tom Gamble.  So confident in the offer that Heckert is willing to cancel  his meeting with the Jets.

I like Heckert, but don’t think he was the top candidate for the job in New York since he was the only one on the list who had prior GM experience.  The Jets seem to be interested in finding an up and comer and Heckert is looking to stabilize and then salvage his career after getting run in Cleveland.
