GM John Idzik and head coach Rex Ryan will interview running back Mike Goodson on his arrest last week, according to Jets owner Woody Johnson.
The team is still in “fact-finding mode,” according to Ian Rapport of NFL.com.
Goodson was arrested early Friday morning and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of handgun, possession of a loaded handgun and possession of hollow-point ammunition.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comThe bottom line is that there’s no way the Jets can recover any money if they just cut him. If the outcome of recovering cap room is part of their plan, then they need to let this play out. Need any examples so far? Look how long John Idzik held onto Tim Tebow in the face of overwhelming media scrutiny to the contrary.
If Goodson’s agents and legal representation are at all savvy, they’ll do their best to make sure that no verdict is reached until at least after the 2013 season. If history is any judge, Goodell and the NFL likely won’t levy conduct suspensions until after a verdict is reached. Much like the Kenrick Ellis court case did, this story could drag on for quite some time.
