Idzik, Johnson Address Media at Owners Meetings

In what should perhaps be characterized as an underwhelming set of revelations for anyone expecting big news, General Manager John Idzik and Owner Woody Johnson briefly addressed the media this evening at the NFL owners meetings. Based on the comments reproduced by the media, the general theme seemed to be preaching patience, but it will interesting to see which of the tacit denials, obvious platitudes and outright non-answers the media latches onto as the big story here.

A brief summary, mined mostly from Bart Hubbuch’s twitter feed:

- They want Darrelle Revis on the team, because he’s a great player
- They won’t rule out trading him “if it makes the team better”
- They won’t rule out signing him to a long term extension either
- They wouldn’t talk about trade offers
- Idzik claimed he has talked to the agents in contrast to recent reports
- Fans and media need to be patient as they put the team together
- Tebow questions were met with the usual kiss-of-death stock phrases
- Woody hasn’t given up on Sanchez
