Jacoby Ford was sidelined from OTAs on Wednesday due to a foot injury (Hubbuch, June 11).
The Jets signed Ford on April 1 for $740,000 (TJB, April 3).
In three seasons with Oakland, Ford had 57 total catches for 848 yards. He caught three touchdowns, but none in 2013. He also returned punts and kickoffs, returning the ball for over 300 yards on 25 punts and kickoffs last season.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comthe New York Jets signed Jacoby Ford as an insurance policy in the lead up to the draft.
The Jets now have Jalen Saunders among other players that might compete as special-teams returners. Ford has proven that he can make a difference as a special teams player over his career. The trick of course is remaining healthy this summer … we will see if it’s something he can do during training camp.
