Jets could trade up to No. 11 or 14, have contacted Titans

The Jets are reportedly interested in trading up in the draft. If they do, they could make a deal with the Titans (No. 11 pick) or the Bears (No. 14 pick) (Mehta, May 8).

Update – 2:15 p.m.: The Jets have been in contact with Tennessee, among other organizations. They’re looking to land a wide receiver with an earlier pick (Rapoport, May 8).

Jets’ GM John Idzik and Titans’ GM Ruston Weber work together with the Buccaneers and the Seahawks (Mehta, May 8).

All done my AP exams, so I am ready to kick back, relax and watch the draft!! Now what is this about the Jets trading up? I don't like it; there will be plenty of suitable WR's at 18. Cooks, Lee, Lattimer. I wouldn't do it, esp. if it means giving up that 2nd rounder.

I dont like the idea of a trade up this year. Well not in the first round anyway.

There was a very good interview of Mike Westoff on ESPN radio just a few mins ago, he's a brief summary; Rex is on a 1 year deal has to win now; Because of this Geno is in for a " WAR " to retain the starting QB postion ( sound fimilar ) The Jets have a massive hole in there secondary & Rex"s defense is completely dependant on a single cover CB. Westy stated that he did some study that showed, ALL of Rex's defenses are predicated on this single cover corner going back to his defenses in Baltimore, & because of this fact, combined w/they're inability to sign any cover CB"s ( Rex never wanted Revis right? ) the Jets basically HAD TO DRAFT A DB IN THE FIRST RD ( think of how dumb it would have been to contact Revis, BPA, yeah right) That what Idzik wants/is willing to spend to get this DB in the first rd are not the same. Westy also stated that WR was very deep ( deepest postion in draft ) & DB was insanely thin, another reason to draft a DB in the first rd. Watch Woody & Idzik draft Johnny football....

@levi I agree. All the value is in the 2nd round. The 1st round talent goes around 50 deep by my chart. I'd like to get as many picks as I can in that area. If I was the GM I'd get 4 by pick 49, then one early in the 3rd. Then I'd still have the comp picks left for special teams, or a Lyeria type player.

Lets hope Qb's Offensive tackles and defensive tackles go off the board early in the draft. If it falls like that I think the Jets will be in really good shape and content to stay right where they are.

@johnsec125 Being retired my production really can't drop that much---although I do have to switch the laundry on occasion.

@bob @jdb4

Rumor has it they already call Savage "Tom 2" in New England.

Have a bet with my father that Schiano will be a part of New England's coaching staff by 2015 season.

My locks of the draft - Savage and Brandon Coleman will be Patriots.

Sorry almost forgot, for what it's worth, while I was listening to Westy interview, during a commerical I flashed to the Fan, Jay Glazier was on stating that the Jets had to go DB....

@DarrolRayFanClub @Paul Samuels It's a good way to find out who you can trust.

So you'd rather stockpile a bunch of 3rd and 4th round picks for all average players? 18 is a good spot and if we trade, we move up not back. We already have 12 picks.. We need to move up some spots and improve the value of the picks we have.

@DarrolRayFanClub @Steven Windeler@levi You're right. Top 61 is what I was thinking.

I'm trading back with SF. Giving them 18, and taking 30 and 61. That gives me 30. 49, and 61.

Then I'm trading up as much as I can with my later picks. I think we can get back in the 2nd with all those picks.
