Jets expected to pursue Kevin Kolb after his release

The Arizona Cardinals are expected to release quarterback Kevin Kolb in the next few days but he may not be out of work too long.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets are expected to pursue and sign Kolb “if the price is right.”

Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg was Kolb’s offensive coordinator in Philadelphia.

Well Idzik wasn’t kidding when he said he was going to add competition. Kolb has had a pretty awful career since becoming a starter. Honestly, anyone is better than Sanchez at this point so I’m not opposed to it. Also, Mornhinweg and Kolb were together in Philadelphia. So if the Jets sign Kolb then Sanchez’s competition will be Garrard, McElroy, Kolb, Simms, and for now Tebow. At least Garrard and Kolb can throw the ball. So Sanchez will have competition in that aspect. Matt Cassel was released today. Should we look at him?

Update: Free agent Brandon Gibson has left his visit with the Jets without a contract.

Update: Vikings agreed to terms with QB Matt Cassel on a multi-year contract.

Update: Falcons agreed to terms with RB Steven Jackson, formerly of the Rams.
