Jets interested in Maurice Jones-Drew

The Jets are showing interest in multiple running backs (Garafolo, March 12).

One of the RBs they’re looking at is Maurice Jones-Drew (Mehta, March 11). Jones-Drew rushed for 803 yards and five touchdowns in 2013. In eight NFL season, all with Jacksonville, Jones-Drew has over 8,000 rushing yards and 68 touchdowns, with a career high of 15 in 2009.

Jacksonville has had one of the worst offensive lines for a while now so it is reasonable to think that if given a better supporting cast Jones-Drew could be a good complement to the hard hitting Chris Ivory and the versatile though unspectacular Bilal Powell.  The Jets need a third down back and with a better offensive line (and overall offense believe it or not) Jones-Drew could benefit from being in a better situation as a player.

Why? with Chris Ivory, and Bilal Powell, they don't need him, except maybe for depth.

Manish Mehta is the source of this lead? This isn't really going to happen.

Between Winters, and our Bargain RG and RT Idzik will eventually acquire, MJD will feel right at home running behind the Jets O'line.
