Jets interested in Sidney Rice

The Jets are interested in WR Sidney Rice (Rapoport, March 17).

The Saints and Seahawks are also interested in Rice.

Rice played in just eight games in 2013, with 15 receptions for 231 yards and three touchdowns.

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.com

Of the Seahawks and Saints, the Jets are the worst off when it comes to needing receivers.  So while the team signed Eric Decker to be their top option leading up to the NFL Draft, they still need more potential upside players.  James Jones was a name loosely tied with the Jets, but nothing seems to be bubbling there for New York which is a shame because we think Jones would be the right kind of production addition to add to the group.

While Rice has some name recognition, he’d better not be expected to be more than a flier due to his return from an ACL tear in 2013.  Beyond his ACL tear, Rice seems to be injured more often than not and has only had one good season back with Brett Favre in 2009.

Get him for cheap, see what he can do in training camp. Reason why no one is touching him:

"According to the league's transaction report, Rice was released with a ''failed physical'' designation."

Jets always interested in someone but never sign any of them

I like Rice at a cheap price, but I'd still rather Idzik take all the $$ he wants to spend on Rice & add it to DRC's total & sign the guy.

Johnny Boy is Embarrassing Us as a Team. And this guy wants to pick his own Head Coach? All he is in the AFC EAST is a College Scout. THAT'S iT! He's trying to low ball all these free agents with a lot cap room. What a waste of time. FIRE JOHNNY NOW!

I thought this was worth re-posting on a busier thread.

I think Sidney rice can be an awesome add to this team. this guy is fast. made some plays in the super bowl. he's dynamic. and coming off an injury filled year we won't have to break the bank.

If we draft well getting a WR, CB ,OLB, and TE it won't look that bad around here. It wouldn't hurt at this juncture to consider trading up either...

after some camp cut acquisitions, we're back in full throttle mode...

I heard the Jets are also interested in my ex wife good luck with that signing. This is getting crazy everyday you get the same news and the only accurate one was Gino, and Decker which the whole planet new the Jets were going to sign. Call me when they actually sign someone lmao.

Maybe someone on TJB can do a post of potential Cap Causalities. To settle the worried fan base

Hmm, maybe ... maybe not.  Not overly excited. Vet minimum would be ok with me.

What about Jacoby Ford from Oakland, for the veterans minimum?

As for Irsay, he's not a Jet, don't really care.  Suspend him ;-)

@Isaac Miller  He got injured in week 8 and was out the rest of the year. What WR in the SB are you talking about?

Only get Ebron if there is no way to get Evans or Lee

@Brendan @jaygoyes the sum up sentance in that patriot article.

"Revis is obviously an exceptional talent, and if that was the cost of closing a deal, it’s well worth it. I’m not debating that as much as pointing out that these details deviated from what I perceive to be some of the core philosophies of the organization."

When exceptional talent is available yo do what you need to to get it.

@Pat d  Yeah. I didn't realize how many injuries he's gone through. I wouldn't out bid the other teams for him

Lee and Evans will be gone before Ebron

Isaac Miller
Isaac Miller

not if we can get ebron at 18 then trade up from second round to get lee evans cooks or beckham jr.. the receiver crop is bountiful this year. tight ends like ebron only come once in a while. also with rice on the team the need for another reciever goes down a lot

@a57se @bob@jaygo

Called him out in front of everybody on live TV I got to thinking wow that's kinda an embarrassing moment.

@bklyndude, it's really not that hard, quit being cheap pay the man, and enjoy the elite defense we would've had. It sure beats the alternative of revis becoming a pat and shutting down our "upgrade" in decker.

@Monty Granito @Brendan @jaygo       I don't think Woody Johnson wants to deal with Revis and his agents as long as he keeps looking for these convoluted one year type of deals.  He is a hard guy to build around until he is willing to sign a more conventional contract..
