The Jets have released WR Braylon Edwards.
The team signed Edwards on July 25 for his third go-round with the team. He played in the first two preseason games, with five catches and 72 yards.
The roster now stands at 75.
Eric Weeks, TheJetsBlog.comI’m not completely surprised by this move. Braylon’s performance has noticeably declined since 2010 and in a time where he had to compete for a roster spot, he simply couldn’t after being slowed by his knee injury. Does that mean the ties are severed forever? Certainly not. It’s quite possible the Jets could bring him back once he is fully healed. That said, the staff clearly feel comfortable enough with their current group sans Edwards to move forward without him for the foreseeable future.
