Jets sign fourth-round pick Dakota Dozier

The Jets have signed their fourth-round pick OL Dakota Dozier, the team announced.

Dozier was the third fourth-round pick by the Jets.

Dozier is a 6-foot-4, 313 pound first-team AP FCS All-American who started in all 14 games during the 2013 season. He was also unanimously named to the All-Southern Conference first team in both the 2013 and 2012 seasons. Dozier spent most of his college career playing at left tackle, but spent time practicing at guard and played at the position late in the 2013 season.

Scouts have pointed out that Dozier has ideal size and a strong base, but they also point out that he does not have clean footwork. CBSSports.com’s draft profile projected that Dozier would be selected in either the third or fourth round.

Dozier’s deal should come in at about $2.5m over four years, with a signing bonus of over $200,000.

Dozier was rated one of the top 100 players for SI, the O line is a real question mark, hope he comes along quick

I think how fast particular players sign gives you a little insight into their character. Are they team first or Mevis first?

At this pace we'll sign our 2015 draft picks by next week.

The two best value picks in the draft are also the first two guys signed...nice!

@Tequila Joe  Also I think later round picks tend to sign earlier, as there's a bit of teams waiting for each other to sign the earlier picks, to set the contract levels (which are pretty narrow anyway under the current CBA).

@Disgruntled Jets Fan @Tequila Joe  Essentially, all but the top 20-ish picks have no reason to drag it out, as the parameters of their contracts are restricted by the CBA and there's nothing to haggle over, you get what you get.

First round guys can fight for contractual offset language.  That's it.  Each year, agents try to push the line of who gets offset language further down the draft board and NFL teams try to hold the line.

@tsjc68 @Tequila Joe @Disgruntled Jets Fan  TSJC, you're "pro union" so I'm guessing you'd love to see that happen. I'm pro fan so that would not sit well with me...I hope Pryor is more of a maverick and shows loyalty to the fan base that pay's his salary...That's what I consider selfless.

@tsjc68 There were a couple of outliers, but basically it was an issue for Milliner at #9 but not Richardson at #13.

@Tequila Joe @tsjc68 @Disgruntled Jets Fan  It's not just "me first", though, it's also "union first".  Pryor holding out for offsets isn't just about him, it's about all the other various guys who get drafted in 2015 and 2016 and 2017 and so on.

It's about setting the precedent.

And Pryor is a real interesting case, as since he's the #18 pick, the union would love it if he managed to get offsets in his deal and push the line all the way down there.  The union and his agent will make him aware of that, for certain.  They'd love it if he took a hard line, and he might see doing so an act of selflessness rather than one of selfishness.

@tsjc68 @Disgruntled Jets Fan @Tequila Joe  I understand all that but what I was trying to get at was how Revis was the last rookie to sign the year he was drafted. He held the Jets hostage and continued to do so for his entire tenure. Hence, we should have known how that situation would play out. If our boy Pryor is one of the first 1st rounders to sign and everything goes smoothly I think it's safe to say we won't have another Revis type personality on our hands. I think Pryor is a team player based on everything I've heard him say and I loved the pick. I just wanted another opportunity to call out Revis and his selfish ways. Revis is delusional, especially when he said Sherman's antics in the NFC championship weren't team oriented. What the does Revis know about being a team payer! It's laughable!!! Ok, I got it out...thank you
