The Jets have signed defensive tackle Leger Douzable, according to Pro Football Talk.
Douzable has bounced around multiple organizations after going undrafted in 2008 out of UCF.
He participated in Jets minicamp on a tryout basis.
Bent, TheJetsBlog.comWell, it’s not the move everyone was waiting for, but the Jets have added another warm body to the competition. There is currently some room for one or two interior linemen on the final roster and Douzable will be in the mix for those spots with the likes of Jake McDonough, Lanier Coleman and Junior Aumavae (two of whom are currently on the PUP list). That’s assuming those three all last until Friday, of course!
Here’s what I wrote about Douzable when the Jets worked him out in June:
Douzable has spent time with six different teams since going undrafted in 2008. He was with the Titans last year in preseason, but injured his shoulder and ended up on injured reserve. The 305-pounder had a good season in 2011, where he was a rare bright spot for the struggling Jaguars. He started off the season as a backup defensive tackle, but earned a starting job at defensive end over the last seven games, showcasing his versatility and excelling against the run.
