The New York Jets have signed veteran QB David Garrard, the team announced on Monday.
Garrard signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins last season and some considered him the leading candidate to win the starting job. Just like with his career as a whole, an injury caught up to him and he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in August of last year. Garrard last appeared in the NFL in 2010 as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he started 14 games, going 8-6.
In his career, he has a lifetime 39-37 record, has thrown for over 16,000 yards, almost 90 touchdowns and 54 interceptions.
Garrard also confirmed the news, tweeting, “Just made it official!! I am a New York Jet!!!!!”
He is also local guy, being born in East Orange, NJ, before moving to North Carolina.
