Jets sign sixth-round pick IK Enemkpali

The Jets have signed sixth-round pick IK Enemkpali, a 6-1, 272-pound linebacker/defensive end from Louisiana Tech.

Enemkpali is the third draft pick the Jets have signed so far on Thursday.

The Jets have now signed five of their 12 picks.

Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.com

With 12 draft picks the Jets were able to find help almost everywhere on the roster.  While we’ll have to wait and see how IK looks on the field, he will certainly benefit in his position from playing with the defensive line that he will have in New York.

@tsjc68 @Gilbert Hernandez  I'm having a hard time gettin excited about this guy as i have no idea what he brings to the table? (especially if he really ran a 5.25 40?

@Ron Alexander @tsjc68@Gilbert HernandezFunny, but there a lots of guys who blaze it up at the combine [*cough cough* Stephen Hill, Vernon Gholston, every Raider WR pick *cough8] but who aren't able to translate that speed into practical NFL skills.

I like that the FO targeted "football players," guys who produced and love to play the game, not necessarily world-class athletes with no football IQs.

@a57se @tsjc68 @Ron Alexander @Gilbert Hernandez  I thought there were slightly better alternatives on the board that I preferred but think George and Enemkpali were still quality selections and people are panning them needlessly.  They both can play.

@tsjc68 @Ron Alexander@Gilbert Hernandez

add 0.05 to their pro day times (at least that is what the scouts do from what I've read) and IK still is slow as molasses.......

I am not impressed with wither of our LB selections.....i thought there were much better alternatives on the board.

We'll see.

@Ron Alexander @tsjc68 @Gilbert Hernandez  He ran a 5.01 at the combine, not a 5.25.

And at his Pro Day at Louisiana Tech, Enemkpali dropped that down to a 4.86.

Also, Jeremiah George (who we spoke about earlier) also improved his 40 time at his Iowa State Pro Day, running a very good 4.66.

Neither of them had good combines, but it could be just that: that they didn't have good combines.
