Jets sign sixth-round pick Tajh Boyd and fourth-round pick Shaq Evans

The Jets signed two more draft picks late-Thursday.

The club came to terms with Tajh Boyd, a 6-1, 225-pound quarterback from Clemson (Walder, May 15).

Also signing was fourth-round pick Shaq Evans, a 6-1, 204-pound wide receiver from UCLA.

With Boyd and Evans under contract, the Jets have now signed 7 of their 12 draft picks.

"But Ryan, a guest on WFAN radio, made a borderline comical remark when he said, "I’m going to be honest with you, I’m not so sure there’s too many teams that want to play us."

Oh, really? There aren't many teams that don't want to face a second-year quarterback who threw 21 interceptions as a rookie? Aren't too many teams that don't want a face a pass defense that allowed nearly 4,000 yards? Interesting. Consider this: The Jets were outscored by 97 points last season, the largest negative point differential for a .500 or better team since the merger in 1970. In other words, they were a soft 8-8."

How many times is Cimini going to cite this useless stat this week?

"With these signings, the Jets are now in cap hell"

Theres no reason to be optimistic about Tajh Boyd becoming the next Brady more than being optimistic in Geno becoming a top 10 qb in his 2nd year. Geno is a smarter player and a better passer. I fully expect Geno to WOW people this season.

Like i said its not like Geno was an average qb prospect. This guy was  a GREAT college qb. The Jets were not good last year. With adding Decker and CJ we are good. Good things ahead.

Saunders will have a bigger roles then most expect.

Either Evans or Enunwa will become a dominant WR.

Shaq signed too!

They do realize you don't have to have everyone signed before rookie mini-camp, right?

@Marvel

Shaq Evans is not gonna beat out Stephen Hill for anything.

Evans at WR2 is a big disappointment

@levi

his draft stock fell so he automatically stinks..... but he's pretty good imo.

"But Coach _________ on the radio made an inspiring remark on local radio today, saying that even with the team's ups and downs from last year he's confident that "not a lot of teams are going to want to play us". Coach _______ does have a good history of drafting and developing young talent and finding contributors from laterounders and UDFAs, and given the talent infusion the _______ received this winter and Coach _______'s past success, you might be forced to agree with his optimist outlook."

- how every other best writer in every other city would have written about that innocuous comment in that irrelevant interview

@williamg1  Rich is lining up to face that DL. You know, in his mom jeans.

@williamg1  You underestimate Cimini.

They are still in cap hell.

@JCuratola3 I think Enunwa could be a good NFL player. He looks like a "football" player if you know what i mean. More grit than flash.  You have to  give him credit he survived Bo Pelini

@Bent  It would be kind of funny if Idzik is just telling these guys "Look, I drafted twelve of you and all of you are going to make the team. Here's our first and last contract offer. Take it or leave it".

@Bent  Didn't we wait until the very last second to start signing draft picks last year, and it caused Milliner to hold out for a couple of days? Idzik's probably just overcompensating from that so he doesn't need to worry about it.

@Bent  The man is so efficient, he's going to start signing other teams' picks after finishing with his own.

@Marcus Armstrong @Marvel  has talent, is very inconsistent and never really lives up to it. Shows flashes-then disappears. Frustrating player who needs strong coaching

Evans is better than Hill though

@Marvel @levi

We drafted him, that automatically means no one else could of possibly evaluated him correctly and he must be great!

"New York Jets" is actually an anagram for "cap hell".

@__fense @Bent  No, we started even earlier than this year (although that was after rookie camp because of the earlier draft.)  The Milliner thing just went down to the wire because he was on the bubble for offsets.  With the highest pick being 18, that shouldn't be an issue this time.

Like Kerley, UDFA TE/WR/H-Back Terrence Miller was a HS quarterback.

And, while on the topic, non-roster camp invitee D.J. Harper was a wildcat triggerman at Boise State.

 at least... Kerley can pitch it too!

@Bent @__fense And Milliner changed agents mid negotiations and that slowed things down considerably.
