The Jets released QB Brady Quinn, as was rumored this week, the team announced. The team will likely re-sign him on Monday, according to media reports.
Update, 9/7: The Jets have officially released Quinn. To replace him on the active roster, they signed LB Danny Lansanah from the practice squad.
Update, 9/9: As expected, the Jets have re-signed Brady Quinn.
Quinn, if on the roster on Saturday afternoon, would have been guaranteed his $715,000 vested veteran contract.
By cutting and re-signing him, the money will not be guaranteed.

That said, it’s always a good thing to have a veteran backup when there is a young starter on the team already.
