Kerley & Holmes hopeful to play while Rex is ‘concerned’

The Jets offense has struggled without Santonio Holmes and Jeremy Kerley being available to play, so it might be bad news again for the Jets regarding the team’s two top receivers should neither be able to suit up tomorrow.

Kerley has been out the past two games with a dislocated elbow while Holmes has had a series of injuries this year returning from his Lisfranc injury last year.  Both Kerley and Holmes are listed as questionable for Miami and while Holmes didn’t practice he was optimistic about his status for the game.

“I feel like I have been feeling the past two weeks. Pretty good,” Holmes told the New York Post.  Coach Rex Ryan was less enthusiastic.  “We’ll see how he is,” Ryan said. “He did not practice [Friday] so I’m concerned.”

Kerley is working back from his dislocated elbow, and hoped to play.

“Game time, baby,” Kerley told reporters. “We’ll see.”

Brian Bassett,

Kerley is a target that Geno seems familiar with and his inability to play during stretches this season has made life difficult for the rookie quarterback.  Holmes has had some big catches, but due to his inability to stay on the field any contribution he might make seems like icing on the cake.

Getting Kerley and Holmes healthy and productive over the last six games would help to remove a big variable in solving the Is Geno Long-Term Quarterback? equation.  Let’s hope one or both can play soon to help us get a clearer view of what lies ahead for this team from a personnel standpoint.
