The Jets continued making roster moves into Labor Day night, signing linebacker A.J. Edds and releasing cornerback Ellis Lankster (Jets, Sept. 1).
Earlier Monday, the Jets signed cornerback Phillip Adams, who had been released by Seattle.
Edds (6 foot 4, 256 pounds) was released by the Jets Saturday after leading the team in tackles (25) in the preseason. He was drafted by the Dolphins in 2010 out of Iowa, but has only played 11 NFL games (both in 2011) after sustaining ACL injuries in 2010 and 2012.
Last year, the Patriots cut Edds in camp. Edds played two games with New England and nine with Indianapolis in 2011.
Lankster, a fifth-round pick by Buffalo in 2009 from West Virginia, played the past three seasons with the Jets.
