Link: Mangold reflects on the season

Over at the New York Post, Zach Braziller collects some quotes from Jets center Nick Mangold, who recently represented the team in the Pro Bowl.

Mangold talks about the team’s strong finish to the season, Geno Smith’s improvements and his own desire for another shot at a ring.

Mangold takes the objective view, yet stays optimistic. Protecting the ball on Offense is something we can all agree on... hopefully we can all get behind and support Geno Smith, and at the same time still bring in QB talent to compete for the starting role next season...

I think this is what I think Idzik, Rex, Marty, Mangold, and indeed all of Jets Nation wants, yet has a hard time in this hyper-media world actually vocalizing.

Big Mangold fan since Day 1 and would like to see him w/a SB ring, but not on the Geno bandwagon yet. Optimism is okay but doesn't deliver wins, kicking butt on the field does. And that's done by holding teammates accountable, not making excuses for bad play by anyone.

Sermi-off topic Wonder if this post will make it through the sensors b/c like B4 I didn't express full support for Geno. Instead, I just indicated he has a ways to go B4 becoming an adequate NFL QB. Even though it had no curse words and only expressed doubt and the need for competition it never made the post. It's also not the first time similar concerns have never made it, so is it coincidence or the squelching of open discussion that doesn't promote the company line? Inquiring minds want to know.

What are the chances Mangold is still playing when the Jets reach the SB?

I hope this guy is involved with the Jets forever.

We can only hope seeing the Superbowl played in their home stadium has a lasting effect on the motivation to be there themselves one day. Right from Woody Johnson on down to the water boy.

Wow.  You and the frustrated fellow take a nice little Mangold piece and turn it into a Geno rant.  And, you purport to speak for people, including me, who disagree with you on what we want.  So, speak for yourself please.  Turning everything into an anti-Geno rant has gotten old and boring.

@frustjetfn I agree about Geno.  Could be good but, didn't impress me, so far.  Do they move up in the draft, pick up a veteran, like Vick, to compete, or just strengthen the O-line and receiving corp.  We can only hope that Idzik knows what he is doing and that he doesn't lock on to Geno, because Geno was his second round pick.

@frustjetfn  I have had comments that wouldnt post and Im not sure what words raise the flags but if I totally change the wording it posts. I dont believe it has anything to do with the context of your post.  But then again TJB is under new management so WTH do I know.

@levi Tks. We'll never know, but I think if you don't curse and avoid politics and religion and just broaden the scope of discussion then there's no reason not to post. Yeah, we'll never know, but if it is censorship b/c a comment is construed as lack of support it's wrongheaded & too protectionist. - But in a long run, who cares?

@harold  I want Dozier simply for his name. I will admit I haven't watched any tape on any guards yet.

Do you think we should get Mangold a new RG in the form of Gabe Jackson?
