Over at ProFootballFocus, they’re going team-by-team and looking at needs. For the Jets, they identify the main holes as quarterback, outside linebacker and running back. As always, they have some interesting suggestions for possible solutions at each spot, including an outside the box suggestion for OLB:
Victor Butler [ ... ] has always looked like being able to handle a bigger role but for more experienced and talented players in front of him. Now he’s likely to climb out from under the depth chart he will want to find a team that will give him a shot at starting, so why not the Jets? Butler saw 300 snaps this year and responded with some good work in the run game and rushing the passer, earning our seventh-highest grade among 3-4 outside linebackers. He’s a project for sure, but the Jets have to take some low-risk gambles if they’re to get back to being competitive.
