Mailbag Time: Occupy Florham Park

Today, my inbox is flooded with amazing awesomeness from Jets fans.  On first glance they don’t look like it, but I am here to tell you that these are some of the best love letters I have ever read.  Fans love this team too much to let what’s slowly been happening the last three weeks continue.

Here’s some of the best ones in all their [sic]ed glory.

The Idiot’s Guide to Backup Quarterbacks
Do not use Tebow, do not use Tebow. You idiot coaches ruined the beginning of this season by signing Tebow. It’s your fault. We Jets fans love Mark Sanchez. If Mark is struggling, it’s nobody’s fault but yours. Idiots, if you needed backup, you dummys chose Tebow? Stupid. You will lose fans, we already think you’re idiots, if that’s not clear yet. Idiots.

Ah, But At Least He Considered Buying That Season Ticket Package! Score One For Woody!

All Balls, No _____
I was not a fan of acquiring Tebow in the offseason, it seem like a ridiculous move at the time and would only serve to weaken Mark Sanchez’s already fragile confidence. However, I am even more perplexed after watching four games this season as to why they go Tebow. Whats the point of having him on this team if we are not going to use him?

Do the coaches have so little faith in his ability to run the plays that he can’t even come in to run mop up duty during garbage time? This is pathetic. The Jets were the Kardashian’s of the NFL in the offseason and they are the laughing stock of it now. Woody, Tannenbaum and Rex should all be ashamed of themselves. There is no one else to blame, all of the fans saw the teams glaring flaws in the off-season but for some reason none of the people with authority saw any issues.

We’ll Get Better At Saying We’ll Get  Better
For the past 2 years all Jets fans have heard is we have to get better, we have to get better….well shut the f*** up and get better. The D is horrible with no pass rush. Linebackers are slow and can’t tackle. No running game whatsoever and a 4th year QB who is horrible.  All this and Jets want us to pay these ridiculous ticket prices?  Hell no. Not until this team shows they are serious about winning.

I Love You Too Much to Let You Live Like This
This team needs to be completely restarted, like the Colts did last year. Get rid of every older player on offense not named Mangold or Ferguson. Let Greene walk, let Keller walk, trade Holmes and Schilens and Moore. Accrue as many draft picks as possible, as well as young, cheap players. Stephen Hill and Kerley are keepers at WR, but Hill is still raw and Kerley is at best a good slot guy.

I’m sure there is still a market for Tebow (Jacksonville?) so get rid of him. Jets do not know how to use him, all he brings is controversy and unwanted media attention. I don’t know the details of Sanchez’s contract, but if you can cut him after this year, do it. If not you sit his ass on the bench. If by some miracle of god there is a trade partner you get rid of him immediately and without reservation. I know of two high-end QBs in this year’s draft, Geno Smith and Matt Barkley. I don’t profess to know enough about NCAA football to know which is better but you must find a franchise QB in this year’s draft. Anything else is a waste of time. Sanchez had four years to show any improvement at all. He hasn’t.

On defense, you have some pieces. Obviously Revis, Pouha if you stay in the 3-4. I like Wilkerson and the jury is still out on Coples. But Scott, Pace, Thomas, Cromartie = all gone. Too old, too expensive, too flawed. Hopefully with some playing time Wilson will improve to be a capable #2 CB. I like Harris but I feel as if he is in the wrong era. In the 1980s he would’ve been a great MLB. But in the modern day NFL with spread offenses and 5 WR sets, his lack of coverage and speed is exposed. Number one priority on defense is getting an explosive pass rusher. You can get them in the draft (Von Miller) and apparently every single defensive end/3-4 OLB taken has been productive, outside of Coples. Melvin Ingram in San Diego, Irvin in Seattle, Chandler Jones in New England. Tell Rex to swallow his damn ego and find a blue-chip pass rusher.

This season is going to suck.
