The Jets released Sanchez on Friday, moments before signing Michael Vick to a one-year, $5 million deal.

Would have been interesting to see what might have been if the final 8 rules weren't in place after the 2nd AFC title game and Tanny didn't have to go dumpster diving to fill out the roster after pretty much going all in during previous years. He didn't play well in last two years but the front office didn't do him any favors either. I hope he goes on and does well....classy kid, regardless of his playing abilities..

As a former Jet fan, as of Friday and yea I've been a fan since 1967< I hope Sanchez goes to my new favorite team the Cleveland Browns..with that running game and those receivers he can do big things...

I will always remember him best by his first summer as a NYJ up at Florham Park for NY Jets kid camp. Seeing my two daughters on the field in their Jets jerseys playing and doing drills with Mark and Sean Greene and the rest of that draft class, then having their little NYJ game day fans "I'm learning to read" books autographed. When the two of them got to Mark they gave him their books, and his eyes got glassy and he got very emotional... He said that the two of them were so cute, and he also raved that he never saw any book like theirs before, and how happy he was that they were learning how to read and was even honored that they wanted their books autographed by him and not dads!... LOL!

Well good luck Mark, hope you finish your career better then how it ended in NY.

And since I didn't see this yet, here's a good laugh to remember your 2009 start in the NFL....

Whatever else you want to say about him, Mark Sanchez has always said the right things to the fans.

Best wishes with your new team, Mark.

I'll always remember the good things he did when he was here....class act

Bye Mark and good luck. You came at a time the franchise turned around into a winner. As a glass half full kinda guy I'll always remember the clutch performances and big throws.

You also brought a ton on love to Aiden who lived in a town that has endured a lot of heartache. The youth football teams hang his jersey at all their home games. Your generosity IS noticed.

Now go beat some AFC East teams for us!

Wow, a classy thank you that he didn't even need to say. The Jets fanbase has ridiculed Mark and shown nothing but hatred for him over the years. Absolutely pathetic. He should write a thank you letter to Jets management for giving him trash receivers and 3 different offensive coordinators over a five year stint. I had to listen to CBS and Fox announcers whine and kiss Brady's ass when he had some struggles last year because "he had to adjust to a new receiving core." Mark didn't get that sympathy once. And don't say Brady deserves a break because he is one of the best ever. Well Mark went to two AFC championship games in his first two years and is sitting right behind Eli Manning for most road playoff victories ever by an NFL qb. Oh but no one can cut mark a break? Im a season ticket holder and when Mark was under center, there was absolutely no one open downfield, they sucked and left him out to dry. He made some bad throws and definitely can manage the ball better, but where was the help for this guy? 8-8 with Geno and if Mark didn't get injured we would have been able to watch some playoff ball. Thanks for the fourth quarter comebacks and especially for that playoff win over the Patriots in 2010. 3tds and 0picks to Brady's 2tds and 1pick, damn good game. ESPN--"Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez showed more poise than MVP favorite Tom Brady" Good luck Mark, if you come back and kick our ass down the road I would only be able to laugh.

Mark your agent is a genius.

He got you 50 million and you were a bottom 5 rated QB and a turnover machine. I won't miss Sanchez at all as the Jets QB but I wish him the best on his new team. Hopefully they give him an awesome defense and running game. He needs it.

Bart scott was the real culprit for that Pittsburg loss. Can't wait can't tackle. Dumb lemon head. But he did have one of the greatest rants ever before that game. Haha

Good luck mark u did bring us many thrills more than any other jet qb I still blame the defense for that 2010 AfC championship game which spotted Pitt 17 points but you brought us back to make it an interesting game. In it's final moments but again the defense couldn't get the ball back from a Q B with a bad ankle . Good luck ..

Not going to get all mushy, other than to wish Mark all the luck w/ his career. He earned the opportunity and did some good things, but he created some messes and might have been a little overexposed.

With that said, I would like to repeat my "Last comment by me on TJB re: Mark Sanchez":

>Media, 2012: The Jets are wrong for coddling Mark Sanchez, giving him too many excuses by not challenging him.

>Media, 2014: The Jets are wrong for releasing Mark Sanchez , giving him too few options for where to go next since it is so late in free agency.

Look I dont want to be to sensitive. If I had sensitivity for any JETS qb it was chad Pennington. But thanks mark, you did try.

As I have told folks I always wished Mark no ill will.  Just wish he could have become what we all hoped he would be a franchise changing QB.  Unfortunately, it didn't happen.  I hope he becomes the next Rich Gannon and has nice 2nd act to his career.

Classy comments from a stand up guy there. Fair play to him.

Yeah, we can thank him. With ten sacks 4 fumbles and 3 pick with 2returned for td's. Haha

he was always the constant professional and class act, hope nothing but the best for him as long as it is not in the afc east. I hope one day down the line after the wounds of last few years heal we can have him back to thank him at met life

A good guy, and I for one will wish him well (unless and until he plays for another AFC East team).

We'll always be grateful for Foxboro.  Great performance and one of the best wins in franchise history.

He'll still run into someones ass. Too bad you like Sanchez, he's never been NFL quality, and never will be.

@Connor Brown Could not agree more. Sanchez was set up to fail after showing so much in those six playoff games. The Jets in 2011 did not bring back Braylon who Mark developed chemistry with in 2009-10. Instead they brought in a washed up Plaxico Burress at $3 mil a year and the ultimate fiasco with Tebow. Also, they kept Wayne Hunter as starting right tackle who was a rusty gate. In the 2010 AFC title game the Steelers were afraid to give Sanchez the ball back, which is why they passed on 3rd down to win the game. I'll never forget that. We thought we had someone to build around and all we saw was a system that set this guy up to fail. It is what Jet fans should remember about Sanchez, not the buttfumble.

@Freddough Jean  The issue of that game was our dline, i think we had like 4 active lineman for that game and one of them was a nobody we picked up at the end of the year. Its funny that one year we couldnt stop the pass and the next we couldnt stop the run

Bent

@Freddough Jean  You misremember (or have been misled by inaccurate information).  He had just one missed tackle and the third highest grade on the entire team per PFF for that game.

Bernard Mclaughlin

@Bent    If nothing else, he made being a Jet fan fun again , after Favre and letting Pennington go  he was a breath of hope and those two years where we went to the AFC Championship game brought back stadium crowds the like we hadn't seen since Pennington beat Green Bay and the Colts , back to back . Those are the moments that make being a football fan worthwhile, the sheer delirium  one game can bring  . whether it is a Super Bowl Win, A Monday Night Miracle, the wins  I mentioned above,  beating Brady and Peyton in the Playoffs, or simply a regular season come from behind win over anyone,  you pray for moments like that as a fan. And Mark Sanchez was the QB for as many of those moments as any other QB in Jet history and for that I thank him and wish him well.

@Bent

That throw to Holmes for the TD was a thing of beauty.....now they're both gone!

@greggreen @Freddough Jean

Yes, MTV made his first ever NFL appearance (including preseason) in the AFC Title game and Po'uha's back was wrecked.

So many missed tackles in that first half though and then hardly any in the second half, as if to tease us with what could have been.
