Chris Mortensen is reporting that Mark Sanchez will have season-ending surgery.
Update – 9:31 a.m.: Sanchez will not have the surgery yet, according to media reports.
“Sanchez is likely to have surgery after Dr. James Andrews confirmed he has a labral tear in right shoulder, per league sources,” Mortensen wrote on Twitter.
Brian Bassett, TheJetsBlog.comIn some ways, this only helps move on from Sanchez. There might have been some hope that Sanchez could have played even with a labral tear had it been necessary, but in all likelihood it would have gone poorly for all the obvious reasons.
Still, it seems a bit peculiar that this is all taking place now, weeks after the actual event. While it might not matter all that much to fans at this point, we have to imagine Sanchez’s injury was something the organization had a good handle on already before the Andrews visit and tried to find the right time to float this out to the public.
