MetLife’s Neighbors, ‘American Dream’ to Resume Construction

Remember that abandoned eyesore that is right next to the new stadium?  According to Chris Christie, the New Jersey Governor, construction will resume under a new name very soon.

Christie told a gathering at Little Ferry on Wednesday that work will restart at the American Dream complex this quarter.

A spokesman for mall developer Triple Five didn’t give a specific time estimate. Alan Marcus tells The Record of Woodland Park that the company’s confident construction will be under way soon.

The project once known as Xanadu has been stalled for years over financial issues. Recently it has faced opposition from the New York Giants and New York Jets, who claim traffic on game days at MetLife Stadium will be adversely affected by the mall.

Glad to see that something is happening with it, but there is some wisdom in wondering how the traffic will be affected by the location of the mall.  More than anything, I think the Jets and Giants are worried about if this will adversely change their parking revenues …
