Mike Goodson won’t report, Joe McKnight on PUP list, McDonough and Mayo waived

The team placed RB Mike Goodson on the “reserve/did not report” list.

“We knew Mike was not going to report and we understand why he’s not here,” Rex Ryan said in a statement.

The Jets officially put RB Joe McKnight on the physically unable to perform list. He counts toward the roster, but needs to pass a physical.

They also waived two players with injury settlements DE Jake McDonough and WR Thomas Mayo, officially.

McDonough had already been placed on the PUP list yesterday, so it was apparent he was dealing with some kind of physical issue.  The Jets seem to like his potential so it’s possible he could return in future, subject to the usual restrictions for a player released with an injury settlement.  (For example, last year, the Jets released RB John Griffin with an injury settlement but had to wait until after week six before they were allowed to re-sign him).

Mayo had already been released, so unless my math is off, they still need to create another roster spot somehow.

We await further news on the Goodson situation.  Perhaps it’s just something where he didn’t want to face the media.
