Milliner ‘hopefully’ ready for minicamp

Dee Milliner will “hopefully” be 100 percent for minicamp, Rex Ryan said on Wednesday.

Milliner was limited in OTAs this week, after not being able to participate at all last Wednesday (Slater, June 11). Ryan clarified that Milliner does not have a pulled hamstring, just a “tight” one.

“He has to understand that he has to be in extraordinary shape,” Ryan said previously (NY Post, June 4). “His challenge is to be in world-class shape because we have to have you out there. He needs to be out there. He needs to get work because that’s how he’s going to get better.”

Milliner missed time last season with a hamstring injury, as well as shoulder and ankle injury.

He is expected to be one of their starting cornerbacks this season.

“Just precautionary,” Milliner said after practice last week (ESPN, June 4). “I’ll be fine.”

I agree, Milliner is a concern durability wise, but I would not yet say that he doesn't have the genetics to play in the nfl. If he goes down again this preseason or during the regular season, then all bets are off.

I wish we wouldn't have drafted this guy.  He may have elite potential, but he can't stay on the field.  And we expect this guy to run with the opponent's #1 WR every week?  He won't make it to the bye.

"Hopefully".... Sounds like Parcells-like motivation.

I was wondering about that. In the morning he just had a tight hamstring, but by the afternoon it seemed like they were going to have to amputate his leg.

Well he played in 13 games last year. And he finished the season healthy and strong, and shutting down #1 receivers. I think any talk of him being injury prone is way off base.

@Pete 57 It's just spent trolling. Don't pay him any mind.

@Pete 57 I'm not trying to bash the guy, but he was drafted coming off shoulder surgery, missed OTAs and a bit of camp IIRC. Then missed three games throughout the course of the year.  "Way off base" isn't fair imo.
