Not an Awkward Moment

Yesterday when Braylon Edwards talked with the press he was candid about his doubts that after last week’s incident on Twitter that the team would consider signing him according to the Daily News.

“I really thought that there was no way that the Jets were interested . . . ” Edwards said Thursday. “After the tweet, it was like, ‘Yeah, I burned that bridge.’ ”

But he was wrong.

Rex Ryan, who has always had a great relationship with Edwards, admitted that he couldn’t care less about the tweet. Although Ryan admitted that “there have been things privately where I’ve been called a lot worse from players,” it’s clear that Edwards’ rant was aimed at GM Mike Tannenbaum, who declined to comment about the tweets.

Edwards said there was no lingering ill will when he bumped into Tannenbaum at the team facility this week.

We know Francesa has used the opportunity to make hay on the Jets, while it makes sense why it would seem to be an awkward situation, you have to respect that the folks in charge didn’t let what he did prevent them from signing a player that they felt could provide some help to the team.
