Triangulating the offensive coordinator story, our buddy Kristian Dyer writes in Metro that the Jets are indeed interested in acquiring Norv.
A league source told Metro New York that the Jets have expressed an interest in recently fired Chargers head coach Norv Turner. Per the source, the Jets like what Turner, considered an offensive mastermind, could do in turning around an offense ranked No. 30 in the league. The Jets fired general manager Mike Tannenbaum this past Monday, but have not yet parted ways with Sparano.
Brian Bassett, theJetsBlog.comThe lack of movement on Turner so far isn’t that surprising … he just flamed out in San Diego with a team that is regarded as talented. The lack of movement might also be indicative of a handshake agreement he’s already reached with some team. We imagine that getting Turner would be contingent on the Jets getting their ducks in a row with their new GM first. Any would-be candidate might have a bad taste in his mouth if they are hiring critical parts of the organization before sorting out that superceding spot first.
