With playoff football kicking off this weekend, we wanted to set up a spot for reactions to the games. Here’s our quick previews for Sunday’s slate:
Chargers (9-7) at Bengals (11-5) — Andy Dalton has led the Bengals to the postseason for the third time in a row, but will it be third time lucky? Cincinnati were one-and-done courtesy of the Texans in 2011 and 2012 as Dalton threw for four interceptions and no touchdowns. The Chargers snuck into the postseason with an overtime win against the Chiefs last week, despite the fact the Chiefs were resting several starters and had a chance to win the game with a late field goal. This will be the Chargers’ first postseason game since the Jets beat them 17-14 in January 2010.
49ers (12-4) at Packers (8-7-1) — For the second night in a row, the later of the two games features a superior team going on the road to face an inferior opponent with cold weather expected to be a major equalizer. The 49ers enter the game with a six-game winning streak and have the kind of power running game that might actually suit the conditions. On the other hand, the Packers had to rely on a come-from-behind win over the Bears with some late game heroics by Aaron Rodgers enabling them to clinch the NFC North.
