The NFL Pro Bowl balloting has finally begun and we at TJB wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some players who deserve Pro Bowl consideration this year. While we consistently vote early and often for as many Jets players as we can, here’s a few names that we think stand legitimate chances of going to the Pro Bowl this year.
Nick Mangold — Mangold is having another amazing year, where he’s proving himself to be the most valuable player on this line. Vince Wilfork had a tough week against Mangold in last week’s matchup against the Patriots, so much so that the Pats moved Wilfork around the line to avoid the Mangold matchup as much as possible.
D’Brickashaw Ferguson — Ferguson was a victim on last year’s struggles on the line, but he’s returning back to his form and doing a great job. While the unit is still dealing with the adjustments to the new look line, Brick has done a commendable job so far, going up some of the toughest defensive lines and linebackers in the league.
David Harris — Harris is a perennial candidate for the Pro Bowl for the Jets with his solid play and should be again this year. His tackle totals and performance has been hamstrung by some of the players around him in recent years, but Harris again
Antonio Cromartie — Everyone misses Revis, but it’s hard to deny that Cromartie has more than stepped up as the team’s top cornerback. Cromartie has shut down most everyone he’s covered so far this season and has a few picks to his name for his efforts.
Joe McKnight — McKnight is having another great year for the Jets as a returner with one of the highest return averages (29.6 – 6th) and he has already returned a kick for a touchdown not even halfway through the season. As teams tire and break down over the second half, I could envision McKnight adding at least two more returns.
Nick Bellore — Nick the Quick came in 5th last year in fan voting, and is having another great year on specials as the team’s best special teams tackler. His size, speed and grit might make this the year that he makes an even better run at the special teamer spot.
