Pro Day Buzz: Dillon Quinn

Jake Steinberg, TheJetsBlog.com

As the Pro Day schedule is in full swing, I’m starting to hear buzz regarding players that the Jets are showing interest in. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a look at some of these guys.

To start, per source, the Jets sent multiple scouts to Fordham’s Pro Day on Wednesday to see defensive tackle Dillon Quinn. Quinn started his career at Boston College, and then finished up his last year of eligibility at CW Post. We hear one of the Jets scouts took some time aside with him during the day and after the workout.

His unofficial numbers were;  6062, 280, 5.03- 40, 30 reps of 225, 33.5 inch arms, 9’3 broad, 30.5 vertical, 4.46-4.55 range on the short shuttle,  7.45 3 cone.

Quinn played at 305-312 lbs at BC when he played as a 4-3 DT. With his reach and unique ability to stack and shed, it appears he would fit nicely into a 3-4 as an end.

What does everyone think of bringing in Brandon Spikes. If the money is right, could he replace David Harris after Harris leaves after this year.

This is the season of the smokescreen .  We may like some of these guys, we may not like them at all.  F/A  will give us a better idea of who we are targeting in the draft.  So in two or three weeks we should have an excellent idea.  But in the mean time let the games begin.

We also showed interest in Roby at Ohio State's Pro Day. Had a meal with him, and Idzik talked to his mom. I'd think we're looking at him with our 2nd round pick.

@Brendan As a proud Manhattan Jasper I hate Fordham. BTW here's some interesting trivia:

There is a college that within a three year stretch in the 60's had a coach and a scholarship athlete on campus( who spent his entire undergrad term there), both of whom later became  NFL General Managers and later NFL Network football commentators.  AND the school  has not had  an intercollegiate football program since the 1930's?  name the college?
