Pryor in pads; Powell likely won’t practice

First-round pick Calvin Pryor is in pads and with his helmet on the field on Thursday morning.

Pryor was diagnosed with a concussion on Saturday. He hasn’t practiced since.

He is wearing a green jersey with a red pinnie over top during drills.

Bilal Powell (hamstring) does not have pads or a helmet on.

I think as of right now. The Jets hole year hinges on the offensive line and if these youngsters dominate in their devolement . Hey Guys if this does not happen then come next year we should be on the market y for 2 good ones.

Now that Daryl Richardson is making a good impression, let's trade from depth and deal Bilal Powell to the Colts (who lost Vick Ballard for the year and Ahmad Bradshaw for who knows how long, since he's constantly getting hurt) who need more RB depth to guard against Trent Richardson continuing to be craptastic.

I'll take a conditional 5th rounder that can escalate to a 4th based on PT.

@tsjc68

Bradshaw and Nicks from the giants if they bounce back. wow the Colts should be looking pretty good.

@tsjc68

I'd have to agree with Brendan, that we wouldn't get that much. Powell is a 3rd RB. I wouldn't really expect anything more than a 7th, honestly. If we could even convince someone to give something up for him when they can just bring in a roster cut at RB.

Brendan
Brendan

@tsjc68 You may need to bump both of those down a round, but it's a logical fit. Teams are just so loathe to trade in the NFL I don't know how realistic it is. On paper, though, great idea (and something I fully endorse as one of DRich's biggest supporters on here).

@tsjc68 That would be a good trade but I really think Rex loves Powell.  I remember him gushing in multiple press conferences about him last year.

Pass protection  is very obvious that we need at least one more tallent equel to Nick Mangold. It all starts up front.

I'm surprised that the Ravens didn't cut him.  He was terrible last year and then he goes and beats his wife.  Would've been a much better PR move to just ax him.  At least it's easy to see what side of the domestic abuse issue that dirty organization is on.

@Brendan @williamg1 Hahaha.

Basically, a Washington Post writer wrote an article about Ray Rice's being a caveman. A response "letter to the Editor" was published in which they took issue with referring to Rice as a caveman, as it disrespects cavemen like Fred Flintstone -- who loved his wife.

Did they now? With no contract extension? Well, that's interesting. I wonder what the Mets can get for Lardo Colon.

@bob The starting OL split, though, which is a good sign considering how dominant the Jets' D is at the LOS.

They've got four good player on the OL and an open LG spot (I'm kind of leaning towards wanting Aboushi in there, he seems to be impressing people more than Winters).

That's a good unit if their weak link isn't the catastrophically weak link it was last year, and just an up-and-down player.

Geno having better awareness and being more willing to take off running will also help slow the pass rush down a little bit.

Did you listen to Rice own and condemn his act??   The guy is of HIGH Character and you want to destroy him for an act that was thoughtless??

You should understand that there ARE people (yes even women) soo disturbed emotionally that they can bring ANYONE over the brink!!

This should also be a lesson to those (especially some women) that they do not have Cart Blanche to impose their will on ANYONE....if they do, they will pay the consequences !!!

@juunit @tsjc68

Correct, no extension.

The spin for the A's is that it's not like Cespedes was going to be part of their core going forward (since his free agency is already just a year and a half away anyway), but still...

They gave up a legit, power-hitting, middle-of-the-order bat for a two-month rental of a pitcher that they're most assuredly not going to resign AND threw in a friggin 2nd round compensatory draft pick as well.

I know Lester is good, but that's just cray.  As a Yankee fan, I'm gonna be pissed if Lester strolls right back to Fenway after this and they walk away with Lester, a year of Cespedes (whom they'll assuredly resign) AND a draft pick for two months of not having Lester (when they sucked anyway) and Jonny Gomes.

I want to just sign Lester myself this winter to keep that from happening.

Women all over this country are constantly reminded that there are things they are not allowed to do for fear of being attacked, stalked, raped, and killed.

Some of those things include:

- hitting a man

- spitting at a man

- looking at a man the wrong way

- being "uppity"

- being too nice

- not being nice enough

- not being as attracted to you as you are to them

- breathing

- existing

- having an opinion

- not wearing enough clothing

- wearing too much clothing

- wearing clothing

- being in the wrong place at the wrong time

- being in the right place at the right time

- walking down a street

- relaxing inside their homes

- reminding someone of something else

- being small and thus an easy target

- being famous

- being anonymous

- being a woman

Brendan

@bob Oh, they're a clear cut above the rest, for sure. But at this point the team isn't finding anyone on that level, but you may have seen some of us endorsing the team using an early rounder next year to pick up a stud OL to prepare for the departure of Brick or Mangold.

I also want to see what Dozier can do, if that guy can clear the roads it'll be awesome.

BDarc23
BDarc23

@Hanknaples Were they opposing views? I think one has no context in order to make things look worse.

EDIT: I mean... too right you are HANK

Brendan
Brendan

@Hanknaples They are not "opposing views," Hank. They are relaying facts (or "facts" in Rich's case). Costello (no saint himself) gives all the pertinent information. The team ran 10 goal line plays, four with the 1's, six with the 2's/3's. The 1's split, 2-2, the 2's saw the defense sweep the offense.

Cimini, beyond simply misrepresenting the final tally (it was 8-2, not 8-2) doesn't clarify in any detail how the drill played out. Reading Rich's tweet without any contact would give the impression that the first team offense got it's ass kicked, which clearly is not the case.

BDarc23
BDarc23

@tsjc68  Did he punch her unconscious? I read that Mort tweeted (later deleted) that the video shows Rice shoving her away causing her to smash her had against something. Would that change anything if true? Could that be why there was no jail, probation or community service?

@Brendan @Hanknaples

I love that Kenrick Ellis got into a fight in college with another dude and Hank's been bashing him as a low-character criminal thug for years, but Ray Rice punched out a woman he outweighs by like 100 lbs and he's a "guy of high character".

That's rich.

tsjc68

@juunit @tsjc68 I shouldn't feel sorry for the A's.  Beane annually finds some way to convince some moron GM to give him a top-50 prospect for one of his mildly-useful scrubs.  He'll rebound.

I had heard that the other video not released to the public shows her hitting him first.

Still, the only type of hit I condone on women is the donkey punch.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@BDarc23 @tsjc68

I won't punch a woman unconscious, nor will I shove a woman so hard that she hits something and loses consciousness, either.

The distinction here is moot.  I don't commit acts of violence against women.  I am a man who has the common sense, decency, and moral compass that compels me to not do those things, and if I am forced by a woman who is attacking me to defend myself, I can find a way to retreat from the situation before such acts of violence are necessary.

Brendan
Brendan

@BDarc23 "Would that change anything if true?"

No.

If that's the case, that's just as terrible as not jailing him for punching her.

He's managed to fool the entire world into thinking he knows something other people don't. That may be similar to what Hitler did, but god damnit he almost conquered the world. Just like Beane almost won a World Series.

Brendan

@bob Definitely. Perhaps the strategy was to fill in the OL with a quantity approach, drafting mid-rounders in bulk to find some that stick, and reserving the earlier-round picks for LT (the elite OL position).

They've seemed to have a very systematic approach to the draft, so it definitely bears watching next offseason.

I'm 36. Dated some pretty crazy girls. Never hit/pushed/shoved any of them, ever. Punched a hole in a wall once, that's it. But you do not commit violence against a woman.

bob

@Brendan @bob

I really am a  believer after seeing how well the defence front is making every one better on defense I believe same should hold true for the offense . Heck if we had what we had in 2009 on the offense even if we do it threw the draft.  agraet offensive line would make the offense and every one on it as of right now  hole lot better. however maybe theres still time to get it right. Its a good think Rex throwing the kitchen sink at them and exposing their weeknesses.

BDarc23
BDarc23

@tsjc68 @juunit @BDarc23 You shouldn't hit or commit violence against anyone. No kidding.  My issue with your point (and Brendan's) is that you don't know what happened in that elevator. i would not ever argue that Ray Rice was justified in punching his wife in the face.

Why are we suddenly so willing to accept every report in the media? We've seen them get it wrong or be made up time after time.  You weren't as quick to accept the Goodson arrest reports.  Are you telling me everyone in the justice system would just turn away if there was real evidence that Rice should be in jail?

tsjc68
tsjc68

@BDarc23 @tsjc68 @juunit

I'm not willing to accept every report in the media.  I don't know what happened in that elevator...

... except for one thing:  I know that Janay Rice lost consciousness, and that both Janay and Ray Rice admit that she lost consciousness because of Ray Rice becoming violent with her.

What caused/provoked/preceeded/precipitated that act, I don't give a flying f#$% about.  There is nothing that could have caused/provokes/preceeded/precipitated that act that can cause it to become less disgusting to me.

Nothing.

The fact that she lost consciousness and was dragged from that elevator because of something Ray Rice did is all the information any of us need to condemn this horrible act.

Brendan
Brendan

@BDarc23 bdarc, you really need to stop this. Ray Rice violently knocked his then-fiance unconscious. That's a fact, and while we don't know if it came via striking her directly, or launching her head-first into an elevator wall, that is also irrelevant. We know that he assaulted her, and that's all we need to know.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@Brendan @BDarc23

Ray Rice violently knocked his then-fiance unconscious.

Repeated for emphasis.

She hit him first?  Spit in his face?  Called him names?  Threatened to kill him?

I don't care.  Whatever she did to him, his response was to become so violent with her that she lost consciousness.

His actions were unconscionable.  No possible prior act by her warranted his violent response.

None.

BDarc23
BDarc23

@tsjc68 @Brendan  Yes, everyone agrees except for the TJB village idiot that Rice punching or knocking out his wife was very very bad. The 2 game punishment is what has been debated here this week and that is where the "circumstances" come in IMO and the opinion of a bunch of others apparently. Maybe that original point has gotten lost.

Telling me I "need to stop this" or that I'm "better than this" insinuates that I think Rice is justified to beat the crap out of his wife which is ridiculous. I've never been in a physical altercation with anyone in my life.

You both think it is very black and white so why don't you just let us all know what the appropriate punishment would be?

tsjc68
tsjc68

@BDarc23

A year's suspension.

Leaving aside the ridiculousness of the drug testing suspensions and the Terrelle Pryor suspension, punching/shoving/hitting your wife until she loses consciousness (even if she hit you first) should be as serious as the PacMan Jones yearlong suspension.
