Quote: Overlooked

“David Harris is the most underrated player in the league.  It ain’t close! It ain’t close! You could have a top 100… and he’s not even mentioned. And I’m like, ‘What?!’”

He's the most underrated player in the league and the most overrated player on Jets. It looks like these two things aren't mutually exclusive...

this is the problem with Rex, he gives players big heads and when it's time resign them, they say Rex said I was the best at my position in the league, to an extent that's what happened with Revis, Harris is a good player with no speed and that's about it.

Too bad Rex didn't call Stephen Hill and Clyde Gares top 100 wide receivers.....

lol....

Top 500 maybe......errr......(ducks)

David Harris made the top 200 players list. Just where he belongs.

Rex:

You are delusional.  In no way is David Harris a top 100 player in the NFL.  He likely not a top 40 Linebacker in the NFL.  Let alone a top 100 overall player.

Rex do us all a favor and just be quiet.  thanks

Rex is really feeling his oats lately.  Too much.

He spoke more in this last week than all last season.  I don't believe in the "taking pressure off the players" nonsense.

Every team is 0-0 at this minute.

Let the team do your talking.

I doubt if the Pats are bringing in grief counselors to handle their "fear" of the Jets.

@Tequila Joe  So Rex is just spouting off nonsense?  Or does he really believe it.  If he really believes it, and Rex can clearly spot and coach talent on that side of the ball, does that mean that you see the real David Harris and Rex doesn't?  I'm not being sarcastic, I really don't know.  I assumed David was slipping a bit as he got older

But you don't need speed to be a good LB....lol

Yeah....Rex is a meathead...Facts are just inconveniences for Rexy...but I gotta admit I like David Harris....especially the David Harris from 2007-2009

@Pat d

I didn't know anyone did a top 200 players list...

@Kory Cosenza Only 600? That is like a drop of water in a sea. Espn will probably give him a raise for all the attention he is getting and giving espn!

@Kory Cosenza

That doesn't compare to the Keep Cimini petition from the Patriots blog!

I thought they have proved that Hernandez's motive for going on a killing spree was to not have to face the Jets twice a year.

600 names on a petition is a drop in the water?

@UncleJoesJetFarm Put your pom-poms away, Joseph.

If only you rooted for the Jets the way you root for Cimini you'd be their new Superfan.

I don't see the purpose of Rex talking now before camp. It serves no benefit for the Jets.  Other teams are  getting free motivation from him even before their physicals.

Wow, not a negitive thing at all. Lets see how long it will take for his positivity to wear off.  I give it less than a week.

@UncleJoesJetFarm Could've fooled me. You seem to get way more excited for a Cimini article than you do a Jets win. Or maybe it's equal. But anyone who takes this much joy in Cimini posting a new article is some kind of sadist.

@a57se @Brendan @Lloyd Jay Reife

If you are talking about your own team then I don't see the problem with it.

The only time I can see it becoming poster material is when you start talking about other teams.(see Paper Bag Sandwich)

Brendan
Brendan

@a57se So you want to widen the scope to include the playoff prediction?

Do you think teams are going to ramp up the emotion to play the Bills? Because they've had a similar prediction come out from Buffalo.

This idea that teams will play harder against the Jets to prevent them from making the playoffs is pretty unfounded. Do you think a team in Week 10 will care what Rex said in May? Unless they've got a childish way of holding a grudge, it's unlikely.

Brendan
Brendan

@UncleJoesJetFarm Of course you did, because we need more idiots who can't cover the salary cap properly being the viewed as the #1 Jets reporter by the rest of the country.

You guys are right in the time and specificity of Rex's comments.  You also know he's not through yet.

That could be the problem.

@Brendan @UncleJoesJetFarm

Exactly. Whether we like it or not, ESPN is the Biggest sports information site out there.  So if we have to put a face on our team, I would like it to be someone that actually likes the team.

The rest of the country has no problem piling on the Jets.  We don't need someone adding fuel to the fire.

UncleJoesJetFarm

@Brendan @UncleJoesJetFarm That was not good, but overall I like his articles. He is not just rah rah, and we hear all the sides to the story. I do understand that some fans are very sensitive to even constructive criticism, but to each his own. I like to hear the whole mix, and then I sort it out myself. I have thick skin like that.

@Lloyd Jay Reife @Brendan @a57se

I used to cringe when I heard Rex making bold predictions about the Jets.  I've come to understand this is how Rex motivates his team and gets them to run through a wall for him.

Rex typically gets his teams to achieve more than most analysts predict.  Last year Rex got as much out of that team as any coach could have.

With the nice additions to this years team, he's getting them all raring to go before mini camp.  I don't see the harm in getting your team all fired up.

Brendan
Brendan

@Lloyd Jay Reife That's true, maybe he has some more goodies in store for us.

As long as he keeps it in-house the leaguewide backlash will be minimal. If he starts ripping opposing teams that's when he gets into real trouble.

Saying you're going to win the SB is a lot different than saying you'll make the playoffs, so he's still dialed back from where he once was. If he can keep it in this zone without going overboard I see no harm in it. But we'll see if Rex is capable of doing that.

Brendan
Brendan

@UncleJoesJetFarm He is consistently inaccurate when it comes to statistics and his annual "start a riot over the salary cap" act is misleading and immoral.

Don't act like him lying or being wrong is me being touchy. That's not "constructive criticism," that's inciting a controversy to generate page clicks.

Cimini could be a good reporter, but he chooses not to be.

Lloyd Jay Reife

@Brendan

You're right because the playoffs are generic and involves two conferences and numerous teams.  Predicting a SB win is narrowing it to one, the Jets. (In Rex's case).  That could ruffle some feathers.

@williamg1 That's about the only thing that makes sense with the way he behaves.

Your a good guy Joey.  Everyone is entitled to there own ridiculous opinions(I know I have plenty of my own).  It's amazing how you keep a positive attitude though all the toture you get for your Crimini liking.  Very commendable.
