Report: Jets WR Enunwa arrested for assault

According to TMZ Sports, Jets rookie WR Quincy Enunwa was arrested for assault after a fight in a New Jersey hotel.

“It’s a legal matter,” Enunwa said after practice on Tuesday (Martin, Sept. 3).

Enunwa, currently on the team’s practice squad, was reportedly arrested and released on Sunday.

“We’re told the alleged victim suffered minor injuries and did not need to go to the hospital. Cops have not revealed the ID of the other person involved or explained why the two were fighting in the first place,” TMZ reported.

Rex Ryan said he aware of the legal matter, but will not comment on it (Walder, Sept. 3).

Update, 11:43 p.m.: It’s unclear if the Jets were aware of Enunwa’s arrest when they released him Monday or when they signed him to the practice squad on Sunday (NJ.com, Sept. 3).

The team’s handling of the matter — which reportedly involved Enunwa’s girlfriend — is likely to be scrutinized given the league’s new, stronger penalties for domestic violence.

"We're just kind of getting to know them, what they're strengths and weaknesses are." Rex Ryan on CBs Leon McFadden and Phillips Adams. #nyj

Hey, anybody could pull a chick off the bed by the ankles and hit her head on the floor in a freak hotel sex accident.  C'mon tha's not domestic violence, he hardly knew her!

What the heck, man if this is the case we need to dump him now and pick someone else up, perhaps RB Henry Josey who has potential and if developed properly can replace Chris Johnson in a couple of years after Johnson turns 30 or so.

Guess Enunwa didn't want to be outdone by Goodson & Patterson  !!!

lol

So much for 3 WR picks....

Saunders - last man standing - and he just had a car wreck from a seizure....

Does the league have to wait for a conviction before the 6 game suspension, or is an arrest enough?

@Bent

Hey Bent!!!  Did Rexy forget something.........Like Team Captains???

Nah. If he Ray Rice'd her, cut him at once, sure. If it's just a "some mutual shouting and light shoving", give him one more chance.

ah nevermind he signed with Jacksonville already, We need to take the same approach with practice squad acquisitions as we approach the draft, best player available. Henry Josey was the best of all those players cut.

In what may be one of the deepest drafts at WR the Jets got zilch.

@bradysucks

We should have traded up and drafted some better offensive playmakers who could have helped this year, like Charles Sims, Jared Abbrederis, Tyler Gaffney and T.J. Jones.

Hmmm, so Enunwa returned to his Hotel room to find some Ho laying on his bed so he tried to evict her...next time call the front desk!

Enunwa has been accused of "grabbing the victim by her ankle and pulling her off a bed causing her to strike and injure both her head and finger."

Huh.

@williamg1 They're supposed to wait for a conviction, iirc. But the media has been pushing for faster suspensions before the legal process has run its course.

@tsjc68 Yea I agree, but at the same time we've grown intolerant with all these events, with Paterson, Goodsen, Hill, injuries that it may be unfair to him if it isn't true, but you can understand my position, Were trying to make the most of what we got and then something like this happens.

False. We drafted two slot receivers who will suit up Sunday: Jalen Saunders and Jace Amaro.

I think Jalen Saunders could develop into a pretty good reciever. Also we got Jace amaro who will be a good reciever as a tight end

@hitchhiker

The use of the word "strike" makes it sound like she hit him and hurt herself in doing so.

@Brendan @williamg1

That is sad, when the Comissioner is swayed by the Court of Public Opinion.

It seams that almost every move he has made since coming into office has been media driven and not player or league driven.

So, for this incident, we can expect a suspension (plus a $200,000 fine on James Harrison, just because) fairly soon.

@Pablo Bruno

Sure.  This incident doesn't move Enunwa to the front of the cut line, but it moves him nearer to it.

I also want Henry Josey.  We don't have to cut Enunwa to add him, though; cutting Daryl Richardson or Leon McFadden or Josh Bush works just fine.

@harold

Jones is only on the PUP, so he might be back.

Just pointing out that no matter whom you draft, anyone can get injured (or have an unforeseen medical emergency, or get into a fight in Jersey, because Jersey is a hellhole that causes violence).

@tsjc68 @harold

no matter whom you draft, anyone can get injured

But aren't there guys who are injury prone and you should absolutely know they are going to tear an ACL ?

tsjc68
tsjc68

There are two kinds of players you want to avoid due to their inherent injury risk:

A.) players with a prior history of injuries

B.) players with no prior history of injuries

hitchhiker

Outside of a previously torn ACL, like Revis, I'm not aware of anything that makes tearing an ACL more likely.

bklyndude

@hitchhiker

I was kidding the people who said McDougle was injury prone and we should not have drafted him especially in the third round because he was likely to be injured again.

ACL injuries are so random in nature,  I don't believe anybody can predict that kind of injury to anybody who has never had one.

tsjc68
tsjc68

And McDougle's new injury (ACL) is completely unrelated to the old one (shoulder).
