Rookie Camp: And So It Begins Again …

Some quick notes from the early spring practices in Florham Park …

Dee-Milliner-27

Jets 9th overall pick, CB Dee Milliner

Geno is Unfazed — Geno made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t put a lot of stock in the media.  The media sure seems to be already doing their best to disabuse him of that notion, but let’s hope it stays that way in New York …

Signings A Snap — We saw the spate of signings the Jets made in already getting their rookie deals done, it’s nice how the new CBA has more or less eliminated any ambiguity in these contracts.  Geno Smith’s might take a little longer since he still doesn’t have representation, but there should be no reason for anyone to hold out.

Cracking on Coples — Uh oh, we’re just a short way into the offseason program, but the word “doghouse”  has already made an appearance. Last year Rex pounced on Jeremy Kerley for his progress … are we seeing a similar situation with Coples this year?  Apparently Rex had some strong opinions about Coples but that it’s in the past and Rex expects good and BIG things from his second year player.

Meet the New 15, Not the Same As The Old 15 — The new #15 is Zach Rogers … the rookie UDFA WR from Tennessee.  Rogers was considered a priority free agent and could be a good possession receiver in time, but it looks as if the media was getting in one last tangentially Tebow story that they could today … we just think that Rogers could be a legit option on the roster come September.
