After reports that the Jets were working out some cornerbacks yesterday, the Jets today confirmed they’ve made a move:
The Jets have signed CB Ras-I Dowling to the practice squad.—

Bent, TheJetsBlog.comDowling was the first pick in the second round of the 2011 draft – just three spots after Muhammad Wilkerson – but failed to make the Patriots roster this season after each of his first two seasons in the league were cut short by injury.
The 25-year old has nice size (6-2, 210) and speed (4.40 forty time at the combine) but recorded just 10 tackles and one pass defensed in 10 appearances in his first two seasons, which included two starts. The Jets didn’t have a 2nd round pick in 2011 but Dowling becomes the third player to end up with the Jets from that round; Jaiquawn Jarrett and Ben Ijalana are already on their active roster. The Jets have decent depth at the cornerback position, but Antonio Cromartie, Dee Milliner and Kyle Wilson have all had injury issues so this could give them an option for potential cover with apparent upside.
