Roster News: Nick Bellore signs RFA tender

It looks like linebacker and special teams demon Nick Bellore has signed his RFA tender, based on this tweet:

Assuming that’s what happened, then Bellore will be under contract for 2014 on a salary of $1.4m. He was 3rd in the NFL in total special teams tackles in 2013.

UPDATE: A source confirms that Bellore has indeed signed his tender.

Good signing.

Typical J.I.  Won't pony up the cash for Marcus Easley, so we're stuck with the third best special teamer.  When did we become a minor league team?

Good signing. I'm down with izzys patient approach and I think he's going to plug a hole here and there in fa after the draft. I think if djax would come at a decent price we should consider it and I think he HAS to do an excellent job in this draft. No aboushys or will Campbells

Has anyone noticed how Manish keeps repeating himself when he doesn't get a rise out of people the first time he posts something?

We kept the good and swept out the bad/old.  This off-season could have been much worse...

Walter Powell, wide out.  The former Murray state racer will have a private work out with the Jets.

What can we take away from the owners meeting. That everybody wanted more draft pics and where willing to trade for more draft pics because the draft is truly loaded this year with talent.

12 draft pics gives the Jets immense flexibility in terms of potentially moving around, targeting a veteran or simply staying put and loading  up on young talent.

Manish has gone all in with the trolling.

Good signing.  Special teams is super important.  We have been ignoring specials, lately.

12 draft picks put guys like Bellore most at risk of losing their jobs.

@levi  Yep. Seems pretty fair for our best ST tackler and LB depth.

@williamg1  At what point can the Jets just take away his press pass?

@boomer I wouldnt really know. I was curious what a good ST's guy gets paid.

@Brendan @williamg1  Its not that easy. There is a protocol that has to be followed that would involve not just the Jets, but his employer and the NFL. It would be nice if a team just had all the power to revoke a press pass, but it is more complicated.

@ericccb I'm a Mets fan, still going to pay for my Jets tickets.

People need to stop assuming these lunatics are Mets fans. It's entirely possible (and perhaps more likely) that the people flipping out are the impatient Yankee fans in the fan base, no? My father doesn't let the Mets or Jets make him crazy any more because that's what a lifetime of rooting for teams like the Mets and Jets will do to you. Not make you the most impatient fan possible.

@boomer @levi  Not necessarily.  This is pretty much going rate for the top special teams guys.

Kassim Osgood just resigned for the minimum and Brendan Ayenbadejo signed a 4 year 5m deal when he was a top special teamer that didn't play on defense.

@levi @boomer  Would appear they plan on giving him some more defensive snaps with that salary.

@jake100 @levi  We won 8 games last year with a far inferior roster. The BR roster has no real holes. What the f are you talking about?

The only way this is a 7 win team is if Geno and Winters take a step back. That's possible but not probable IMHO. You have to project that some players will in fact....wait for it....get better.

If you look at that roster and not see that they are better then you're either purposely being unfair and critical or you're trolling.

If they did nothing, and I mean not sign any players in free agency and not draft a single player in May they would be still be better than last year with players returning from injury and Geno developing.

@jake100  In the article they drafted Amero, DAT and Mathews, along with Decker, Kerley, Hill, Nelson, Ivory, powell, Goodson and Cumby,  Id say thats fire power. You either didnt look at it or you are being overly negative. How can you not be happy with that. Thats building a team. It also had Baptiste at CB.

@levi @jake100  I have learned not to rely on rookies making a substantial impact their first season. Sure, once in a while you get a boss hogs, but it is rare. The above roster has too many veteran player holes. As the article states, the secondary is a big issue, and the oline is shaky. Aside from Decker, the offense is still lacking real firepower.  A good draft will do wonders for the near future, but unless we add some key FAs now (whoever is left), I see just a mediocre upcoming season, but again, a good draft can be huge and payoff in 2015.

@jake100  Youre confusing me. Did you even look at the roster you posted?

UncleJoesJetFarm

@levi @jake100    It looks like 7/8 win roster.  It wont be bad for the near future, if we have a real good upcoming draft, but it does have some big holes and question marks, but again, a good draft can do the trick, maybe not for this season but for the near future.

@Brendan @ericccb  lol great points. I am Mets fan as well and only 23. Have already found the best way to handle these 2 teams is to be patient.

Judging by my readings of metsblog, not many people have found the same.

I will be attending games at both citifield and jetlife this year.

I don't think there's any direct correlation. Between the "Sky is falling" Jets fan, and the Mets. I think where it becomes more likely, is when they connect the Jets with the Wilpons in terms of approach. So, if you're spending time parsing the comments to try and isolate who's a Mets fan, that's the only possible indicator I can identify.
